10/22, learn the basics for cheap. Huge after market, cheap ammo, fun to shoot. Step up later.
I would get the basic carbine/rifle version first, then upgrade as you see needed. A lot of the adjustable "tactical" stocks for 10/22s are flimsy crap. I returned 3 before I found one I liked.

Great little plinkers

yours is real nice what do you hve on it

Green Mountain 18" Bull barrel
Archangel target stock
extended mag release
Barska cheapy 3x9 plinkster scope
no-name bipod
Home-done trigger polishing, still need to do a bit more to lighten it up.

Next up is a larger bolt handle, and possibly some lower rings.

which ruger should i get? is the one i was looking at good for the price?

I wouldnt get that one, get your basic one at big 5. Should run you about 120-130 for the 10/22 carbine. Shoot that a bit, then start looking at after market. The one you posted looks like one of the tapco 10/22 stocks, which are pretty junky.

Ruger 10/22 for plinking. That hi point 9mm carbine would make a nice little HD setup.

Ruger 10/22 was my first rifle that my dad bought for me when I was like 12-13. Great gun. I took it out and shot it years after I had shot it last and it was still accurate as all heck. Great first gun.
