I have a dillema,
I'm pretty much dead set on buy Sig 516 piston ar15. But i just heard from a guy on the ar15.com that Sig does not sell individual parts. In another words, if something breaks on the gun, you are SOL or buy the whole thing.
Is this true?

My experience with sig parts was for a sig 556. I wanted to buy the short piece of reciever picatiny rail, so I could convert a 556 swat with monolithic rail, to a 556 classic.
3 screws and it's swapped out. Anyway, Sig would not sell me the part. They wanted me to send my gun in to have the work done. I ended up buying the part from cogunsales.
So, I would assume their policy is the same with the 516, send it in to have stuff fixed. They may offer a little field repair kit for it with springs and such.

how long does the whole repair take?

if u insist on having SIG fix it for you, its on there schedule. but piston platforms arent rare and parts can be found.
i just purchased my SIG556 and it is a great weapon.
I think they have a lifetime warranty for the original purchaser so you shouldn't be sol if something breaks.
The workmanship looked good on the one I fondled at the gun store....
