the r22 is a peice of *****.got min back from rhinland.still jams

Ditto that, the one I picked up the bolt doesn't even align with the chamber. Not really any way to fix something like that. Sure is an expensive POS.

Wonder if they are doing a scaled down copy of the MP5, or just a gun that looks like the MP5.

Man, that's sweet! I wonder if it's going to be long enough?

Too bad they need to add 8.3 more inches to the barrel before we could get it. I guess if they made a fixed fake can that would be cool.

Good luck on getting it even in the Free States, let alone California. The barrel length is 7.7 inches. :(

sweet mercy that's cool!

I'd agree with the can, it's look pretty mean... or very least they can put on a faux SD front end

From a thread over on arfcom:

"I was informed by GSG that they would be available here in Oct Nov of 2007. They have a stateside distributor lined up. The USA version will have a faux supressor to comply w/16" rule and a standard stock. The price (550 Euro) sounds about right but it has been creeping up since this first surfaced after SHOT."

550 Euro is already +$1000.

550 Euro = $725 USD.

Still pretty expensive for a 22lr.

Thread hi-jack....

I think it's got a lot to do with what day of the week the gun was made on, if you get one that wasn't made on a monday or friday, your fine. But like I said, the bolt doesn't even align with the chamber in mine, resulting in frequent jams. And the firing pin actually snapped in half on me. I wound up making a new firing pin for it, which actually wasn't too bad, it's a very simple firing pin, but it would have been a serious pain in the a** if I didn't have access to a milling machine.

I've always wanted to make my own .22 MP5, but I am always too lazy to get on it. I'd be all over this if it could take Ruger 10/22 mags. I got several >10 round mags for that so it would be nice, but limited to 10 rounds is kind of "...meh" when you have access to high capcaity.

I thought about that too, I would like one of these "MP5" .22LRs to turn into the MP5 PDW(w/ fake can) I've alway's wanted, but the 10 round limit is what's making me not in a big hurry to pick up a Romainian AK trainer, or AR dedicated .22LR upper for that matter. Meh indeed.

With my 10/22, +10 mags, speedloader and loading assistant I can go through a 550 rd. brick of ammo in less than 30 minutes.:D

We think alike my friend. I got some more mags around here in my garage I think. I know my granfather had a Ciener kit at one point, and I got his gun parts when he died in the early/mid 90's. I really should go over to my grandmother's old house and try and find the parts.

does the 30" rule apply to rimfire rifles also?? I just looked at the assault wepons guide and it seemed to me that that only applies to centerfire...

What a n00b question, i know..... but I've been so obsessed with the OLL laws that rimfre laws never really interested me. Now that this baby is comming to town I'm getting a little more interested.:D

saw on the other forum that they should run about 500 US Dollars when they are released in the states.

26" OAL is all a rimfire needs to be :). The AW law is centerfire only.

how come I've been reading about a fake suppressor to make it legal? Does federal law require a 16" barrel maybe? is that it?

Yep NFA rules mandate a 16" barrel. Other option is just to make it a pistol :D

Too bad we can't get 20+ round mags for them here. Just think how fun these would be with the new rubberband technique that recently was unveiled.

Correct. This is why, at the next gun show, we'll have a couple of rimfire AK's dressed up in Galil-style polymer furniture. Side-folding stock, OAL around 27"-28".

I heard a rumor that the bodies of these rifles will be based on the PLASTIC GSG airsoft MP5, much like the ill fated Kestrelfire 10/22 conversion. :(
