So, I was going through and sorting mixed 223 brass the other night. I found four cases that said "WIN NT" for a headstamp! I was pretty amused, and proceeded to give one to the manager of the NT group over at work. She was a bit annoyed with me... she said if I was gonna give her the case, I needed to load so she could shoot one of the servers next time it gets out of line. :)

A bit of web searching reveals that "NT" stands for Non-Toxic (probably lead-free or mercury-free or whatever it is primers). If only that were true of the operating system...

That's pretty funny, got a pic?

I've got a motherlode of Hirtenberger primed 5.56 brass that has "HP" for a headstamp.

will post a pic, eventually...............

[sort those out, they have a smaller primer pocket] :) <- that might be wrong

oops, I realized I don't know if that is true for .223, but it is for .45

*grin* 223's all take small rifle primers. Unless, of course, some oddball company out there has invented a reason to squeeze a large primer in there.

On a side note, 6.8SPC and 7.62x39mm already have the Winchester problem - small or large primer, dependent upon brand.
