Question, I have a new DPMS 5.56 rifle that I am going to go shoot sometime in the next few weeks and im just wondering if there is anything I need to do before I go shoot?

Load it, can't shoot it without ammo.
Read this thread if you still need info http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=505763

Don't forget to pull the trigger. Lol
Breaking in an AR is a myth.
I always saved my first spent casing. Besides that. Love it!

Yes there is something important you should do besides load and pull trigger. Run a patch thru the chamber/barrel to remove any possible thing such as metal shaving or grease clump etc that might have gotten into it. I have found unwanted stuff in new and used firearms in the past.
It only takes a second and then you are sure.

Yes, clean the BCG, lube it and do like Divehunter suggested.

Clean it, lube it, shoot it. Shoot it again and again and again and again....then shoot it some more. Good luck and enjoy.

If it's not almost dripping it's not lubed enough :<)....Dependeing where you are sunscreen is nice. My 1st time out was this spring and although a nice day wasn't overly hot.. wasn't till I got home I noticed that I looked like a bald as*ed lobster.

2 or 3 types of ammo. More than 20 rds each.
Lube. Oil or grease.
Take a cleaning kit with you.
Bring more than 1 mag.
Spotting scope or binocular.
Ear and eye protection.
If you have irons sights you may need the front sight adjustment tool.
Google how to zero your AR/M4 etc.. at 25yds or 100yds. Lots of good info out there.

What others mentioned above, basically clean, lube, and shoot. Be safe and have fun :13:
I lube mine like this and works pretty good . No complaints so far and it isnt dripping wet.
