View Full Version : Which Flip Up Front Sight

Please help me to decide which height sight, a 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 when opened. A Yankee Hill is 2/ 1/4 and a Young Machine is 2 1/2. This is going on my SPR I've converted to Piston. I don't recall what the 'F' marked FS height was that I removed.

Is this going on a gas block or rail?

The Yankee Hill mounts like the A2 front sight, the Young is like a gas block

The Young:

Or any other suggestions..

What I'm trying to achieve here, is to cover up the pin slots on the bottom of my barrel where my old 'F' marked A2 front sight was. I'm working with a SPR 18" with Mid Length Gas, which I converted to a Piston Drive, that had rifle length sights. I like the rifle length sight radius better, so, therefor I want some BUIS flip up front to go where the old sight was. This solves my FS pin cover up problem.

Received mail back from YHM, they state that the front sight towers that are the gas block fold down sight combo clamp on, are equal to the F mark front GI when deployed to the open configuration.

Have you checked out the troy front sights?

Yes, Troy is nice and a little more $$, I'm using this sight for two reasons, to cover up the pin slots on the bottom of the barrel and as BUIS.
