Been following this project for a while now and SMG guns is finally ready to start delivering their semi FG42. I'm on the list for one in the coming weeks and Rick at SMG has agreed to make a custom radlock style bullet button for all us here in Cali who are interested. The quality that I've seen so far looks outstanding. At 5k they aren't cheap but considering originals run 100k, I can finally own and shoot my favorite ww2 gun. Once I get mine I'll do a range report. Hes putting a few up on gunbroker for the guys who didn't get on the waiting list for one. He's also going to do a 308 version that takes FAL mags in coming months.

One of the myths of the FG42 is that it has a beastly recoil. Actual due to it's unique buffer system and muzzle break it has much less than other rifles firing comparable rounds. To show this point SMG has posted this video comparison of their FG42. As you can see it has less recoil than a Garand and even a FAL even while shooting full powered 8mm. Really it seems closer to an AK in felt recoil. Truly an advanced design.

Wish it was a type 1, would be really easy to make a fin grip for it and it wouldnt look too out of place because of the swept back PG

hell of a lot cheaper than the last guy who claimed he was going to produce some for sale. He quoted 14k (and never made any)
