Every thing I look at is not ca legal! I am new to the site so I am sorry if this question has been asked a lot. My last resort is an ar configured for 9mm. But I really dont like the bullet button. Are there any other options?

CMMG makes a 9mm but you will have to have a bullet button or make it featureless in order to have as you will with any AR you choose.

Ruger makes a 9mm carbine that can be found used and marlin made the camp 9. Good luck in your search.

I have a Camp 9. Reliable, no mag lock and it uses (pre ban) Smith & Wesson 59 magazines. Gets dirty as hell though and buying used the buffer generally breaks apart, but that's a $7.00 replacement part. If you don't like the button it's a great choice.

I've been web shopping for a 9mm carbine for about a year now. I've checked out the Marlin Camp 9, the Rock River 9mm and the HiPoint 9mm. I can't see any reason why I wouldn't go with the HiPoint.

From all the videos, blogs, this site... hands down, I feel it is just the best bang-for-your-buck. Priorities are keeping me from getting at this time, but I think a birthday gift to myself is in the works. Between the gun itself for $300 and the 3 magazine combo for only $60, that is such a screaming deal.

I love pistol calibers in rifles.

Picked up an Uzi carbine recently and I love it. Fix the stock open or get a surplus wood stock, pop a grip wrap on it, and you're good to go.

I just built one. Lots of cheap fun! Nice thing is you get a little recoil for cheap.

the ruger P9 is a good choice...IF you can find one.

Thanks! :)

Uzis are fairly inexpensive and make great carbines. They're heavier than both a polymer carbine or a 9mm AR, but they make up for it (imo) by being basically indestructible and having a ton of cheap surplus parts. Also they just look cool!

I have also had a fascination with Uzi's for the past 6 months. Your pic doesn't help me in any way!!! :o

I brought a used 9mm AR. Looks great and fun to shoot. The BB is the only issue I have with it. =(

Look into something that do not need a BB first. my 2 cent. =)

I have a Beretta Storm in 9mm that takes M9 mags and I love it.

An excellent 2nd choice would be the Ruger PC9 if you can find one.

Where do you get the Uzi?

They're around..try OC Armory.

I checked out a 9mm Hi-point at Turners today on sale for $250(?). Most reviews say it's good to go.

Where do you get the Uzi?

Parallax Tactical, but they normally only stock the pistols. I did my own CA compliance work on it before we did the transfer. PRK Arms stocks the Uzi carbines, though, and they even make their own bullet button that's apparently pretty good.

I got a chance to handle one the other day in Turners Kearney Mesa. It's.. interesting. I didn't like it a whole lot beyond that it's unique. The cool thing about Mac-pattern guns is that uppers are cheap, and there's a bunch of rifle-length ones out there. And of course if you ever got the chance to SBR it you could just swap on a pistol upper. Same goes for the Uzi and quick-change barrel though.

Here my CX4 Carbine I picked up earlier this week. Mine's a .40 but you can get it in 9 and .45 as well. If you can live with a BB they're legal.

It's my favorite long gun I own and it's a tie with my favorite handgun.

I have eye balled the CX's and AR's but I REALLY dont want the BB. I do appreciate all the info! Is the Uzi really CA legal? I like the idea but will I have to have a BB or the grip mold thingy? And how much do they run? I cant really spend much more than 400. I think I will have a look at the Hi Point. Thanks for your input!!!!

I've had a Camp Model 9 since 1989 and won't part with it. Excellent 50 + yard gun, it's a kick with a small scope and see thru mounts. Takes 30 round mags if legal. Blowback design, similar to a Model 60 .22LR, plenty of small parts still available. Everybody was dumping them a few years back and now there's a demand of sorts.
Keep looking,they're still out there.

Go 9mm AR but featureless build. So you can drop the bb.

If I was to spend the money on an AR it better not have the CA mods. I think it would be a let down. The Kel Tec also needs to be modified to be CA legal. I think the Hi Point is going to be the way to go. That or pick up and move to NV!!!

Ruger PC9! I have one. Use any magazines. Ruger 10/15/Mecgar 20's. No BB. High quality.(Good enough for LE) 16" barrel. Ruger will service it no problem.

The wood is good, my friend. If I were in the market for a 9mm carbine, that's exactly what I would buy.

I'll bet that stock is considerably more comfortable than the metal folder as well.

I've heard that if the CX4 thumbhole is plugged, you still need to extend the barrel gun 1/4". CX4 is like 29.7" and semi-autos need to be 30" or longer... But it wouldn't need a BB.. I can't find the thread, though...

I did fire one at a CA range that didn't have a BB. But, heck, the guy could have been LEO or whatever...

Thats right. If you plug the entire thumbhole and use the 1/2" spacer you do not need a BB. However those mods need to be done before it ships to CA unless you go through a FFL that has an AW permit. Not 100% sure on the permit part though. Or have it shipped in parts.

On a different note, the factory Beretta flash hider makes the rifle 1.5" longer.
