I'm about a week away from picking up my new FN Scar16s :D

I was really excited and bought 1000 rounds of Remington .223 . . .

Will the rifle shoot better with 5.56 than it will with .223? Is there much of a difference in performance or accuracy (with this rifle in particular)?

You probably won't even notice the difference. There is a bit more performance with the 5.56 cartridge, but it is nothing to get excited about at the range. Have fun with it and don't stress so much.

Either one.

Personally, I'm going to shoot 5.56 through my new AR for 500 rounds and then shoot either .223 or 5.56 after that, depending on what's on sale :D

Not a whole lot of difference you'll notice.
I always start off with new factory brass .223 in my .223/5.56 guns.
It eliminates any "ammo" issues in a new gun. I'll switch to other ammo after I know the gun functions properly.
Enjoy the new toy. :D

you will not notice much difference between 556 and 223.you will notice the difference in longer 62s for the 1/7 barrel.

Its not a big difference, but its definately noticeable. 5.56 is hotter for sure, and has a different recoil and concussion than .223. Personally I love 5.56 but it doesnt really matter they are so similar.

I like shooting 5.56. There is definitely a difference, When I went to the range one day I had my wife put in .223 and 5.56 without me knowing the order. Then I would shoot and write down what I thought, And I was right all 10 rounds. 5.56 is louder and a little more recoil.

5.56 is a bit hotter but you will not notice anything..... only machines can.

Congrats on your Scar! Like said, it will function with rem .223 just fine.
One thing to know is that if you plan on using pmags, you need to modify them just a tad. Pmags cause the bolt catch stick up just a hair and rub the underside of the bolt. Simple fix or just run USGI mags with the square notch cut out in the rear. Search around on fn forum and you'll see photos of what I'm talking about. Great rifle. Enjoy it!
