I am helping my friend sort out gear from his father's estate and he has a K-22 4" barrel with an inset red ramp. 5 screw. 100% bluing but a lightly engraved 4 digit number on the front of the cylinder crane. Otherwise looks real good. Serial number is K 213XXX. Anyone have an idea on the year and the rough value on the market today? I'm going to buy the S&W standard book for my library, as I have two other Combat Masterpieces and I love older S&W wheel guns, but need an answer for him over the next two days. Any help I will appreciate. In the attached picture, the .22 is the bottom gun, the top one is my .38.

Production date is 1954. A nice pre-model 18. The front sight has been altered from original, and the markings on the front of the yoke/crane will take away from collector value. Also, have you checked to see if the stocks number to the revolver? Overall it appears to be in great condition. Value is between $550-$600. A little less if the stocks don't match. HTH c good
