Anyone know if the Mini 14 tactical (non-pistol grip style) is legal in CA? I'm looking at the M-14/5GBCPC from http://www.ruger.com/products/mini14TacticalRifle/models.html.

If you put a mag lock on it then it would be legal correct? With a mag lock you can have evil features.

Yes, you would have to mag lock it, and use a 10 or less mag...

not worth it for a flash hider

You can switch the FH to a muzzle brake or a thread protector.

I like the tactical because of the shorter barrel.

I like the shorter barrel too. That's why I was hoping it was legal. Maybe I'll find a FFL that can take it off before shipping. It also look like there are adapters out there for the mini 14, but they look like they would add a lot of bulk at the front.

Remove the flash hider and replace with a muzzle brake and you're gtg.

If they can just remove the flash hider they can still send the flash hider to you, detached from the gun.

I've been hoping for a while now that a California shop, like Turners or Rifle Gear, would swap out the FH with a Brake and make them available. I like the shorter barrel too.
