Well I went trout fishing at buena vista again on 2-25-07. This time there wasnt any 12 pounders. However I did catch 7 the smallest of which was 12".

I have a question for all the people here in Kern Co. What other places are there to fish out here. So far Ive only fished at Kennedy Meadows, the upper Kern and Buena Vista.

The lower Kern from the powerhouse down to Live Oak campground at all the pull outs. You can also try the river where it empties into Lake Isabella by the Kernville golf course.

I grew up on the other side of the Sierras, assume you're on the Bakerfield side. I never spent that much time fishing around Kern but as the other post goes, in/out of Isabella is good. I use to fish from the lake up to McNally's restaurant. Kennedy Meadows use to be the bomb when it was a dirt road up there from the west side.

I'd recommend the other side of the Sierras. Its well worth the drive to hop over and try the streams around every little town up 395, Lone Pine, Independece, Bishop, etc. The more north you go and higher up in elevation the better it gets. Real nice country up there outside of Bishop, Mammoth, and June.

Hello, Hi Desert. Sounds like you maybe grew up in the Eastern Sierra / Owens Valley area. Which part and when? I graduated from high school in Big Pine ('87) and spent a few summers before that in Lone Pine and Independence.

Actually Im In the Tehachapi area up in the mountains (Somewhere near 35.15/ - 118.63) . I will have to check that out. I have a buddy that has an uncle in Independence and he was telling me that we should go check it out. Actually I was waiting for the snow to melt a bit as I wanted to head up to Kennedy Meadows again. It was pretty good the last time I was there.
