I'm wanting a Mini 14 and I want it to look like this:

As far as I can tell, this is a stock Mini 14 with the exception of the little extension below the barrel and the muzzle device. Aside from the mag, can someone help me with a list of what they see on this gun that isn't a stock accessory, what it is, where to get it, etc.?

Or better yet - This:

Thanks much!

Thanks!

Pic added from that site. Maybe the greatest Mini 14 I've ever seen.

Older Mini's with the pencil barrel you increase accuracy with adding a strut as you see on those, there are a few manufacturers out there, newer ones with the beefier barrels, your not buying yourself much. There is a heat sink value though that helps.

Not Mini 14 but there was 10-22 dressed like M14 on GB while ago.
Kind of neat.

Perfect Union is the place of all Mini information.
The attachment under the barrel is the Accu-Strut. Helps inprove accuracy.
Helped my Mini 14 (2002 model) cut my groups almost in half. Well worth the price.

this is the place to go for mini-14 accessories.

http://www.ruger-mini-14-firearms.com/mini_14_30_accessories.php

you will need the recoil buffer pad and the extra long recoil spring to start. the extension on the front of the barrel is called Accu-strut.
now your serial number to see which parts will help your rifle. first three digits.

Those are the older non-tapered barreled mini-14's. The first one has a smith muzzle brake and the second one looks like a flash hider. If you go the flash hider route, you're going to need a bullet button. I went featureless on my own mini-14 (including a muzzle brake). I sent my gun to the Gun Doc and had him give it a once over. Choate makes that vented handguard cover (looks pretty cool). I have a newer ranch model and haven't put a strut on it. It's already a shooter.

Awesome. Thanks for the info, guys. I want to put one of these together pretty badly now. I don't ever really see myself buying an M1A, but I dig the look and it seems like this would be a good alternative to yet another AR.

I was aware of the flash hider issue, but I'm assuming I'll be able to find a brake or comp that will give it a similar look. Maybe even steal the Surefire brake off of my LaRue...

What kind of prices should I expect for the ranch model with the wood stock? I seem to recall seeing them in the $600-$700 range.

The first looks to be a pretty much factory Mini-14 pre-580 series without an integral scope mount. It appears to have an accustrut barrel stabilizer.

The second photo appears to also be a pre-850 series (although more recent than the first photo) with a Williams WGRS rear-peep sight, some sort of picitinny rail installed on the integral rail sights, some scope i can't identify, an M-14 style flash hider, and also the accustrut barrel stabilizer, and an OD green Hogue overmold stock with a Choate vented handguard.

I could be wrong.

can't help it:

here's a semi-recent photo of mine:

the newer models come with a different barrel/sight setup, so they will look a little different.

Current model 580+ will look like:

i see them on sale pretty often for ~$650

and from what I understand, affixing a muzzle brake on these is difficult.
