Hey Guys,

Enough is enough.... enough of research, and enough about asking stupid question like what brand AR to get, or I wanna get my first AR...etc, etc.... That's just making me go crazy...............for months...............(actually yrs, since I've wanted an AR for a loong time).

So, just placed an online order for my FIRST AR. I'm getting the Spike Tactical ST-15 LE M4, in Mid-Length. You can give me your feedback about it Now. Is it a good buy? Paid $800 ish + Dros + fee. What do you think?

Nice! I have that exact same AR!

Been a solid shooter so far. 223 and M193. Think about an MOE handguard and an MOE+ grip. Makes a big difference!

Pics when you get it out of jail!

I did search on DD, Delton, DTI, Stag, BCM, Spikes.... and maybe a couple others. DD & BCM had high overall ratings, but are easily into $1300+ for basic rifle. When I looked into specs and did some other searches, Spikes got pretty high ratings too, and match all it's specs with the other good AR's.

I simply looked at "Specs" / "Details". Spikes seemed like a good bargain for under $900 (and I kinda like the spider logos....lol). Here's a Review with some pix http://www.majorpandemic.com/2011/08/spikes-tactical-st-15-mid-length-ar15m4.html

This is what I'm getting - http://www.spikestactical.com/new/z/st15-midlength-le-carbine-p-443.html

Let me know your feedback.
I'm on the BLACK-Side now...hehe. Always wanted to have a Black. I don't know a lot about AR's, but I understand their like Lego toys, you can fix them, replace uppers, and customize them in many ways....I guess, I'll have to learn :)

Black rifle disease will ruin you. ;)

I remember thinking $1K for an AR with accessories was too much... I think I just finished building a $4,500 AR and a $4,000 AR and I didn't even flinch... however my credit cards melted from overuse.

Congratulations and my deepest condolences.

Congrats :cool2:

SGL21 ? I didn't know what it was. Googled it - it's AK47 Saiga made... Well, I have a SKS in 7.62X39, which is the same caliber. I may sell it and get AK47 down the line.....or just keep the SKS. It does everything AK would for me.

But AR15 is a "whole different" "TOY". It truly is a Toy, because you can break it in uppers/lowers and have mulipule guns out of one, different calibers, and different set ups ...all in one gun. Can't wait! :D

Wow...$4K is kinda way too high for me. But I can see spending another $500-$600 in optics, rail, light for HD and Range.

Good choice on the Spikes! Now you will start paying attention to all the optics choices out there...And all the free float rail options out there...And all the nice buttstock options out there...And all the weaponlight options out there...

Kiss your money goodbye ;)

So darn true! I remember when I began piecing together my first black rifle (converted Saiga) and then entered the world of the AR and realized all the options I can choose from  Yeah, my wallet is hurting.

To the OP:
Congratulations, Spike's is a great choice!
