Yes.

It's just the latest "it" AR for the moment. Suddenly nobody cares about BCM this and midlength that anymore. Everyone wants a carbine again, even though it has a 16" barrel.

they were legal to own before, when it was the LE6940... only the law enforcement 6920 was banned.

Hope you liked the Story

Ive seen pics where the upper and lowers dont match up. I dont get it, whats the big deal? A AR is a AR these days. But hey if you want to spend extra cash on a name go for it!

With multiple AR companies with great fit n' finish, I'm not very excited even though I do like the rollmark and that it's a big "F-you" to CA anti-gunners :D Haven't checked it out in person before, though. Well, I did go to Ammo Bros lately but with the wall of black AR's, it doesn't stand out.

That's funny just a name.

My 2 brothers used Colts in combat, so while no civilian M4/M16 rifle system will never be like what the .mil uses, I'm happy to have the 'name' that is the standard to what every other M4/M16 rifle is measured to.

Not saying you have to buy one, just saying it's good enough for me. Isn't that great that we have the choice. My father before me was a Colt collector, I know what they produce as I've seen their guns in the safe, and out of state, for over a decade.

You find another M4/AR-15 mfger that can produce a reliable fighting rifle for over 50 years, and get back to me on that.

to be honest yes

no other good reason

well thats a big part, another factor that leads into that is that most folks couldnt easily get their hands on one

Same reason why colt 1911s, single action armys and pythons sell for so much. It's a colt. No other good reason.

If you already know the story then why start a new thread that has already been discussed at length?

People naturally want what they can't have. Now that you can get a Colt they are going to go like crazy. Some people like the history behind Colt, myself included.

Wow lou, would you mind sharing where you got that price? Seems more inline with the 6920.

I might think about getting just a Colt lower, just to say I have a real McCoy, but otherwise it is just like any AR. Played with one at the store the other day didn't seem any different to me except for the pony on the side, and it didn't match up as well with someone else's upper as some other lowers.

I would lean that way depending on what they've done with the color.

If it's the lighter more olive/grey that the original Colt and Armalite guns were, I'd want a matched set.
But if they're just black anodized, then ya... regular lower and Duracote an assembly later.

I'm sure in a year they won't be that big because everyone will have one. Then everyone will need to get the next big thing

I had a typo.
I got it for $1300 OTD.
G&R tactical has them for $1300 with free shipping and no CC fee.

I think the LE6940 would probably be most collectible in terms of it being discontinued.

Although the SP6940CA and LE6940 are essentially the same rifle, collectors probably desire the LE edition since there are a few out there and in a few years there will be a "boat load" of the M4-Carbine roll mark Colts available.

I had already purchased a LE6940 upper receiver and wished I had waited so that I could buy the complete rifle, but having already spending $1k of the Colt upper I think I better stop there before I go to the poor house.

Either way... I wished I could afford owning one of them authentic ponies! :D

I got a 6940 from AMMO BRO's about 6 months ago, first AR I've ever owned probably the last until Colt makes the AR10 version (yes they are making one) mine says LEO on the lower not SP, I dont care if it makes it more collectible I will never sell it. One advantage of buying a 6940 is you dont need to do anything to it when you pull it out of the box. oh ya and it says Colt on the side :D

This was great timing for me I was going to build a BCM KISS Carbine now I can buy one at a reasonable price. The only thing I'm going to do to it is chop the barrel to 14.7" and pin the A2 to it.

Yup, it's not that any other rifle is now crap, it's just that the original is back in California. I shot my 16" BCM middy at an idpa match this past weekend and it was almost too easy with the eotech.
