You are looking at the wrong buffer tube, those are for the collapsible stock, for an A2 stock you need this http://www.midwayusa.com/product/489724/dpms-receiver-extension-buffer-tube-ar-15-a1-a2-stock along with http://www.midwayusa.com/product/191371/dpms-buffer-spring-ar-15-rifle?cm_vc=S014ID489724 and this http://www.midwayusa.com/product/910805/dpms-buffer-ar-15-rifle?cm_vc=S014ID191371 or just buy this http://www.midwayusa.com/product/266795/model-1-buttstock-assembly-ar-15-a2-synthetic-black

Will AR-15 buffer tube assemblies work on a LR-308?

AR15 buffer tube will work.
You NEED specific 308 action springs and buffers to run 308 rifles. Carbine or Rifle.
Get the mil-spec tubes.

here: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=26122/Product/A2-Buttstock-Assembly

as you can see, MIDWAY had it for only $55.00 and Brownells is more expensive at $95.99, so your $12.50 for $25.00 will end up the same.

thanks but i already have the A2 stock, i need the rest of the stuff. The midway items are for an AR-15 NOT lr-308. Those parts for a 308 would be a steal at 55.00

If you already have the A2 stock and spacer, then you need these:

Rifle/Standard 308 Buffer (http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=42989/avs%7CManufacturer_1=DPMS%20FIREARMS%20LLC/Product/-308-BUFFER-BODY-ASSEMBLY)

Rifle/Standard 308 Buffer Spring (http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=42988/avs%7CManufacturer_1=DPMS%20FIREARMS%20LLC/Product/Buttstock-Buffer-Spring-Std)

Rifle/Standard Buffer Tube (http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=17502/avs%7CManufacturer_1=DPMS%20FIREARMS%20LLC/Product/Butt-Stock-Extension-Tube)

.308 specific parts you'll need: buffer, buffer spring

Standard ar-15 parts that interchange: receiver extension (Aka buffer tube) mil spec or commercial doesn't matter, a2 stock and spacer.

Don't get the buffer springs mixed up it's hard to tell which is 308 and which is ar15.( at least for me it is) Also the lr308 rifle buffer is slightly shorter than the ar15 rifle buffer
