I need to replace my grip bushings on my Springfield 1911 Loaded. I have a set of slimline grips to install, with the appropriate hardware.

Are the bushings staked or do I just need to warm them up with a heat gun to loosen up the Loctite (that I'm assuming is applied)?

Thanks!

Naw, not staked. Not even sure if its loctited. They should just unscrew.

Usually the bushings are either lock-tite in place, or are screwed in then expanded slightly to hold them down. Use a wrench with a large bladed screwdriver head and gently unscrew them. You'll be fine.

Heh, so I jacked one of the bushings. . .gonna see if I can throw it in a vise and back 'er out. The other three went fine. . .applied some heat, just to be safe.

ETA: Threw it in the vice and got it out. . .though I'm not too happy about that. Bottom thread of the OEM bushing didn't look so hot. . the new bushing went in with just a bit more elbow grease than the others.

Well, I plan to keep them slimline, so I'm not too worried about the frame. If I ever get the finish redone, I'll have them look at it.
