Can someone help a brother out? I am looking for a new remington 700ss 5R but I am having problem trying to locate one at a local shop in the bay area. I am willing to travel to pick one up. I would much appreciate the help.

Hey Joe,

try this link. http://www.snipercountrypx.com/c-836-700ss-r5-mil-spec.aspx
The other way is to look in Snipers hide forum. It's kind of rare for a retailer to have one in stock.

Good luck.

Thanks for the lead. I went there, left a few e-mails and none to be found. I just figured members onthis forum might have spotted one sitting at their local shop.

If any members on here have spotted one at their favorite shop or dealer please let me know.

Thanks,

Joe

I would also consider the FN PBR rifle. Only around $850 and is scope ready as it comes with rails.

You're better of buying an M-24 or the police version of the old varminter or maybe build one yourself. The Milspec 700 and the Varminter jam when you fire 7.62. But if that's not a problem for you, a quick mallet blow to the bolt will pull the spent cartridge out. gotta love 700 extractors. You could also have the chamber reamed for 7.62

Might I recommend the Savage 10FP-HS Precision? Trigger job not necessary and will shoot like nobody's business.

Sometimes i wonder if people on the internet are full of bull****...This is one of them....Wtf would you be doing firing .05 cent ammo threw a $900.00 doller rifle.....Interesting....a 308 remington shoots good and would buy another any day. I have...had...remingtons and current pards have them. I have them in 308, 30-06, 300win mag and 223 soon. Also have a savage completly custom.
Will outshoot anything you have....

Next you will tell me M1A is the most accurate rifle availuble huh?

Because I can, and the rest of the world shoots 7.62 NATO would'nt you rather own a rifle that is capable of firing both... Let me guess you're one of those guys who would by a .223 upper for a AR-15

Don't own any commie weapons at this present moment (ie 7.62X39 soviet)but I do own a couple rifles that are chambered in 7.62 Nato and I have been known to handload on occasion by the way.

Geez! Can't a guy make a simple request for assistance without it turning into an internet pissing contest? Here's a used one for sale: 700 5R (http://www.snipershide.net/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=106509&page=1&gonew=1#UNREAD) You could ask if the seller will sell just the rifle, though if you can afford it, that's an awesome scope for a good price.

Thanks for another lead. I e-mailed the seller and he is not willing to part it out so I will keep on looking.
