What a tiny little overcharge does to a tupperware gun. HK fixed it promptly for 125.00. They even took the scratch out of the slide for free.
I guess they dont want pics like this circulating on the net. My steel guns handled this by blowing out the mag bottom. I put the mag back together and kept shooting. Tupperware guns offer NO protection whatsoever. I have since sold my dillon 550 and bought a 650 with overcharge alarm.

Very cool, looks like it started on the rare 7" frame.

Thanks for the compliment. You're right. It did start out as a 7 inch frame. I still have an unbuilt frame like it. I've been waiting for a company to make an extra long slide to have another 10 mil built. Unfortunately, at the moment, 6 inch 40 cal barrels and slides are the only ones available.

'looser' is one of my favorites, but English spelling, such as it is, offers no guidance.

'lose' rhymes with 'shoes' - but from looking at it, should it not rhyme with 'nose'?

However, the your/you're problem is well enough known that I really expect folks to memorize the difference.

Going back to the thread, I have really enjoyed the pictures; my Glocks are not photogenic, and I tend to agree a little bit with 'ugly', so I won't put a picture of such plebian pistols in such august company.

I love the Broomhandle. I keep looking for a good example that I won't have the get a second mortgage to buy.

About 10 years agos I passed on a beauty for $600 because I didn't have the money at the time. Looking back I should have looked harder to find the cash.

What hurts more is my uncle had an excellent condition broomhandle with matching sholder stock and holster. He sold it really cheap to maintain his drinking

TMC,

If that was a 9mm 'Red 9' your uncle sold, you and I will have to cry together!
I need a true Red 9 to complete my collection- but I'll probably have to pay $1.5-2K for an 'O.K.' one :(

I lucked out on the refurbed gun- it cost about $500-550 if I remember right- I paid a non-matching price and got a full matching gun! I have yet to fire it :D

Hey Dave, I was looking at one of those scandium/titanium models, I think it was a 33x in 38 spl only. Awfully tiny and light... is it going to be punishing too?

saki302
10-29-2005, 1:52 PM
esskay- to be honest, after shooting my .357 scandium, NOTHING is punishing anymore, not even the .500S&W! Seriously! Even the .44 scandium with full loads isn't as bad as the .357when using 158gr and up.

To me, the .38's aren't bad- it's still snappy, but manageable. If the recoil's still uncomfortable to you, you can put a larger set of hogue grips on it too.

I would get the .357 scandium if you were going to go that route. You can shoot both, and let your friends shoot it with 180gr. full power .357 loads for giggles :D

If you want a much more pleasant and easy to shoot model, get the Model 60 in .357. It's full stainless, and probably kicks as much as the scandium with .38's when using full power magnum loads! The M60 has a better trigger feel than either of my two shrouded hammer guns also- the mechanism is different internally, the shrouded guns have a 'second stage' in terms of feel when you pull the trigger while the M60 doesn't, and can be cocked if you want.

-Dave

PS- if you're in So Cal, you're welcome to put a few rounds through mine to see if you like it- bring some .38's, all I have is three Fifty Sevennn! :D :D

esskay
10-29-2005, 9:01 PM
Thanks for the input Dave. I would in fact actually prefer a 357, which I could of course just load with 38spl... it's just that I had run across a pre-lock Scandium and it's in 38spl... and I can't stand the damn lock so I was considering buying it anyway.

saki302
10-29-2005, 9:07 PM
A pre-lock gun might be the plain titanium cylinder gun with the aluminum frame- also a neat gun. It's 1oz. lighter than the scandium :D

My uncle had one, which worked great, until he blew it up! Apparently he made up some .357 level loads in some old .38 cases since he only had a .357 at the time. When he found them again, he shot them through the .38. After about 28 rounds- KA-BOOOOOOOM! It blew the top strap in two pieces, and blew off the top of the cylinder. He was unhurt thanks to the great design of the gun. I wonder if the thought 'why the heck does this thing kick so dang much' ever crossed his mind

Just make sure you shoot .38's in yours :D :D

The 1911 is my all time favorite. It's the best design ever made. There are so many configurations that you can do with them. No other pistiol can match it. ;)

You can get the old 210-5, since it has a threaded barrel and Im not gonna be able to get that into the country when I move :( otoh, Im considering replacing the barrel with a standard 5", so I can bring it. Dont want to leave anything behind, but I can live with just leaving a barrel. Sucked milage to hand in the G3 :/

Possessing the threaded barrel is okay, AFAIK. Just leave it off the gun.

Or maybe try and work out an alternative mounting method, say a roll pin? I'd hate to be drilling into a 210 though.

I don't have a lot and what I got has to shoot, so these are shooters and they do pretty good. The '43 1911A1 goes with my '44 Garand, and the 1909 is companion to my 1900-mfg. M1898 Krag-Jorgenson.

Bacon, NICE 24-3.

I'm hoping to be lucky enough to grab Pre-24 1950 Target Models one of these days. I had my hands on one with a bright blue finish that ranked as what I would call 85%, seller still wanted 850 for it which was too rich for my blood. If the thing had been an honest 95% or better then I'd pay out the nose to get it in my collection.

I'll settle for a 24-3 one of these days if I can't find one of the cherished premodels. Holding out for Pre 24, Pre 25, and if possible one of the rare 45LC variants.

Atleast with a 24-3 I wouldn't feel bad using it as a shooter.

Need a little help on posting pics; I have many interesting rare itmes that many here might like to see; many guns you may NEVER see elsewhere, many "1 of 20 in the world" stuff (no, really).

So if I am dumb on this, sorry; how is everyone posting the pics within the post, as well as so large and detailed? Is it by linking to a separate url/your website? The pics I took are great, but I don't have a website. So am I S.O.L.?

Is there a way to load them here and still be able to shrink them in kb without shrinking the actual size viewed in the post? How do I have them show within the thread rather than as a jpg link?

I checked the details on some photos some of you have posted by right clinking properties, but I can't figure what I am doing different. What photo program do I need to use? I shrink them or compress them to match those sizes, but when I post them, they link from the jpg link no bigger than avatars!

The first set of pics are mundane, but I was trying to post was of several H&K's as that seemed to be of popular insterest here. I have nice pics of my 5 H&K P7 guns (an early PSP in its wood case, an early M8, an M10, and 2 M13's - both early models). Then I have an early P9 (no S) in blue not matte with a super low serial number, and a P9S in .45, as well as 4 VP70Z's with 2 "NIB" in 9x21mm (only 400 were made in 9x21mm). Then I had a coll evolutionary photo of the above leading up to my H&K USP .45 Elite. Layed out side by side you can see the progression of the style.

Any tips???

I had some trouble as well. I tried to use the search but to no avail. I found by trial and error that I needed to use an image host for larger images and decided to use Photobucket as it seems very popular and free for now. Once they are uploaded to the host below them there are three fields labeled URL, TAG and IMG. I found when I copied and pasted the one labeled TAG into the body of my post, it contained the proper instructions to have the image appear in the body. On the host I think the size limit is around 500K. That's plenty. I use Photoshop to resize as it allows compression with or without resizing but you can use windows to simply resize images although I'm not sure exactly how (in windows). I do know if I right click on an image in windows and "send to" email recipient, it opens a resize dialog. Just not sure after that. I hope this helps some although it is in no way a complete tutorial. I would love to see the P7s for sure as well as some of the others so I wish you luck!

Here are a few pics I just snapped of my H&K USP .45 Compact. This is my first and only firearm. I received it almost three years ago when I turned 18 as it was my pick to carry in the police academy.

http://www.jefframbo.com/handguns/calguns_color_microtech_smith_stars__ammo_usp.jpg

http://www.jefframbo.com/handguns/calguns_bw_ammo_stars_usp.jpg

The knives pictured are:
1- Smith & Wesson ExtremeOps (1st Production Run)
2- Microtech UltraTech - This knife was custom made and laser engraved by Microtech with the USASOC insignia. Only 18 of these specific UltraTech's exist, mine is 017. It was made for a group of individuals on a military special operations related bulletin board I run.

When I turn 21 in April of this year, I plan to add to my collection in the following order:

- CZ-75B.
I will most likely buy two, I took my girlfriend to the range about 2 1/2 years ago and rented this one for her, she fell in love with it and so did I.

- USP .45 Full-Size.
My Compact needs a big brother to serve as a role model.

- FN Five-seveN (IOM if the USG is unavailable).
Sarah Brady whispers sweet nothings to me at night about this platform.

- Glock 21 & 30.
I have never been a diehard Glock fan (yet Glocktalk.com probably gets my most attention next to my own forum), but I wish to at least have these two in my collection.

By April, the overall collection will also consist of two AR's and either an FN Tactical Police Shotgun or a Remington 870 (Tactical or Police w/ Knoxx SpecOps Stock).

It's a front sight post- that upper comes with match iron sights (not currently installed). There's an adjustable gas block which looks identical hidden under the free float tube.

You are a bastard, you know that? :D
heh heh- this is one of the few times it's better to be older (18+ in 2000). My only regret is being too young to miss out on all the good deals in times of lore, like back in 1989!

I know I'm supposed to "fear the man with only one gun," but I think I'm more afraid of Brass Balls - what a collection.

As a training exercise, let's find all of BB's 1911s that are cocked and locked.
