I saw a posting that sparked an idea. I tried to search my idea on the forum but didn’t see anything that directly dealt with this question, so here it goes.
Is it California legal to bring into the state or assemble in the state an AR-15 style OLL matted with a filled-in thumbhole stock? Here are the details of my question.
1. JP Rifles use to make and sell a laminated stock for their AR-15s. (See www.jprifles.com). If I got one of these I could fill-in the thumbhole part.
2. There is a poster on this site that bought an H&K SL8-1 and filled in the thumbhole stock. There was a raging debate of the legality with no clear decision in the forum. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=47019&highlight=sl8-1
If the fellow that filled-in the thumbhole on the H&K is correct and the gun is California legal then couldn’t we do the same for the AR-15s and even the AK-47s styled weapons? Buy the lower without the pistol grip, slap on a filled-in thumbhole stock and we got ourselves a good gun.
Here is the second part of the question. Assuming this would be legal, where would we get the thumbhole stock for the AR-15 as JP and DPMS discontinued this product.
