I purchased a 56 oz container of ghee at the Sacramento Costco yesterday for $15.99. Amazon has the same item for $28.99.

I looked on the Costco website and am unable to find a link. The item number is 480084.

The use by date is July 14 2012.

For the price I don't think you could buy the butter!

For anyone that has made their own ghee what is the yield from a pound of butter?

Is ghee different in taste than regular ol clarified butter on the stove top?

I like Schmaltz my self.

Oh who am I kidding any rendered type of animal fat is good.

ghee is just clarified butter. easy to do. the yield is fairly high, as you are just taking out the solids and moisture

Doing some rough math...

4 large sticks (4lbs) at costco is 8.99 and that is 8 cups or 64oz. After solids and water removal you are left with 56oz that would give you and 87.5% remaining ghee.
