I am going to install a weaver rail on my mosin. Cheap stuff usually found every where for about 10-20 dollars. The only down part is I need to install a medium eye relief scope. This is because the rail needs to mounted in front of the bolt. Any one out there know how many inches of eye relief I would need. Thanks in advance.

about 10 to 14 depending how far it is. IF its on the original sight..I would go with 14.

Don't buy $10-20 mounts. They suck. I know people think, "well it's only a $90 (or whatever you paid for it) gun so there's no reason to spend so much on a mount and a scope". Well I'd rather just use the iron sights than use a cheap crappy mount.

Based on what I have read on several forums, I would suggest the Darrell's Mount:

Listen to what JumboPanda said, you're not going to be happy with the cheap stuff.

I give a huge +1 to the Darrel mounts I have one on my M39 finn mosin and one on a K-31 and they are rock solid mounts.
