View Full Version : Most UnReliable 10rd Mag Poll

I think its about time we figure out what the best 10rd mag on the market is. If you own a mag listed above and have had any major problems including: failure to feed, works with only 9, impossible to seat full on a closed bolt, or any other major problems please place a check next to its name. While some mags are more popular than others this should give us an indication of which mags are dogs.

Bobo, Great idea in starting this thread. I just started gunning and have only used the Bushmasters. I noticed today, at the Chabot match, my Bushmaster mags threw a tantrum everytime I topped off with 10. So, all my stage walkthroughs are now divisible by 9. I'd like to try STAG magazines though since I'm using a STAG lower.

Oops, I guess it helps to read the whole thread before voting. Discount one of those Bushmaster votes, mine has been flawless for over 3000 rounds.

I can't really vote, because the Bushmaster 10/20 have been the most reliable from the choices given. Pro-mags have been the least reliable.

just fyi (I'm such a data nerd), your desired replies and the poll title don't match up.

Title: Most reliable 10rd mag poll
What you state: click the mags you've had trouble with

problem is that people see the poll before they see your post, and will often (generally?) click the response that best answers the title of the post.

Does anyone know who sells Stag magazines? Googling 'Stag magazine' returns some interesting results.

Your right, can't change it now though.

:) Lucky Man

I've had three catastrophic failures with two different Bushy mags. Wedged the unfired round between the charging handle and the bolt.

-1 Bushmaster for me. Haven't had any problems with the three I own. Work just as reliable as my 14 yo USGI mags.

I haven't had any problems with my Bushmaster mags as well. I would think that the the C-products mags would be pretty good as well, especially with the anti-tilt followers.

I'm surprised Bushmaster is 1st on your poll. Or, perhaps the title of the poll and question asked are throwing people off.;)

Eitherway, my 10 Bushmaster mags are all flawless. I use them in both my AR-15 (DSA lower/DPMS upper) and Kel Tec SU-16CA.

I have 4 promags and 6 bushmaster mags. They all feed fine. One of my promags had an issue where it would leave the 10th round in the upper with the bolt locked back. I would release the bolt to chamber that final round. It went away after about 100 rounds threw that mag.

I had an issue with a bushmaster but that turned out to be operator error. I wasn't seating the mag all the way so it would miss feed.

After those two little issues I have had no problems. Stag/Stag, Double star/bushmaster, CMMG/DPMS and Mega/home built upper on a Stag/CMT upper receiver builds are the guns the mags are used in..

This poll could have been very helpful. Now its just confusing.

I think bobo should re-start this poll (thread) with a clearer question.

Bushmaster mags... fine.

Stag flush-fit 10rd mags... followers are too short, I believe, which causes major issues with tilt. It sucks when your follower will gleefully tilt 30 or so degrees on you...

I voted Bushmaster in the poll for "Most reliable mag".:D

I also have a C-Products 10/30 mag that also works well.

I concur that the wording of this poll title, poll choices and poll post is ****ed.

I had problems with a COLT brand 9 round mag.
the follower tilts too much and IMO they are not reliably.

BTW you can change the title of this thread by clicking the edit button in the #1 post and then clicking advanced.

I voted Bushmaster 10 because I have never had any problems. I also have one Stag 10 rounder that works equally well. The only thing about the Stag I don't like is it sits perfectly flush with the bottom of the mag well and IMO weakens the look of a CA-15 rifle.

I would have added the promag but I've never heard of a 5.56 until now.

Have five bushie 10/20s, havent had a single problem with them yet.

The 10/30 C-products I have is a POS.
Can't seat it with 10 rounds loaded, random FTFs, always locks slide back with one round left in the mag.

The bushmaster 10/20 has never given me any problems. The c-products 10/30 locks the slide back with 1 round left. My buddies c-products 10/30 functions fine.

The title misled me, my bushmaster vote was meant to be positive, mine have worked perfectly.

Even outside the confusion about the thread title vs poll title I'm not sure that this poll would provide reliable information. If "Brand A" has 500 votes for people having trouble with it, you still can't make a general determination of it's reliability because you don't know how many people are having success with it. There's a big difference if there are 1,000 of the "Brand A" magazines in the field versus 100,000.

I mentioned this in the first post. It should give us some idea of which ones are dogs.

Now I don't know the brand of my worst pos mags, but they are 9rounds. The mag body is top half metal/bottom half black plastic. They come apart in the middle, and a 5 round follower can be installed. I have two of them, and they are worse than the 10/30 cproducts. And they are ugly. And nothing is worse than an ugly mag that doesn't work.
