Bought a used Socom. I am considering changing the stock. I searched Calguns and found an old 2005 thread but most the links were no longer valid. Anyone that has researched custom stocks please chime in and include links where possible. No real purpose i just want to make it my own.

Actually, it's law483 ... and he's definitely good to go: http://www.law483.com/. I believe he's focusing on the new Troy M14 MCS, which is NOT California legal. But he's also made a number of custom stocks for the M1A.

There is a CA-legal version of the Sage EBR, which Fulton Armory offers (probably other places too): http://www.fulton-armory.com/. Do a search for the "M14/Sage Tactical System"). Edit: Didn't see Morelli's post ... Security Arms is probably a better source for the EBR.

Also, check out the West Texas Armory and the JAE 100 stock: http://www.westtexasarmory.com/jae100.htm. This stock is CA-legal. This is also available elsewhere, but WTA seems to have an expertise on these (and other M1A stuff). They aren't cheap, but they're apparently very well-made.

Just a couple ideas that I've looked at for my Socom ...

JAE100 is very nice. Most of the shops will charge you tax for being in CA and they drop ship. My friend waited 5 months for his.
