Middle gun. The Westernfield? Anyone know the model, And would it be legal to build one without the AOW paperwork, or is a longer barrel required? I think it'd be pretty snazzy.

Barrel is almost certainly less than 18", which would violate 12020(a)(1).

You'd need to have it registered as an SBS, which would be easiest by setting up an NFA trust and paying the $200 for the tax stamp. Should be legal that way, as it would be C&R and thus be allowed in CA, although smarter minds shall chime in as to whether or not that is actually a pistol grip, in which case the legalities may change a little (12276.1(a))

He said the pump gun, which is not an SBS under federal law right? it does not have a shoulder stock. It would be an AOW correct? so it would need to be reg'd as such... which is also legal under CA law for much more than C&R

If you want to build one or buy a more modern replica, it will no longer be C&R, which means no-go for CA. It will have to be built as an AOW, and will have to be reg'd to you as one.

Yeah, I'm talking about the pump gun. If its only an inch or two short then 18, Id have the 2 extra inches to avoid AOW BS. But if it would look ridiculous, Then I'd deal with the AOW work. All I know is that its a Westernfield, and I can't hardly find any information otherwise.

Ah, so it is pump. Good spot.

If my logic on the flowchart works, then that should only change the legality of the "pistol grip" that it has. It's still got a barrel less than 18", which takes you to the question of "Is the shotgun properly registered as an SBS?"

My logic may be wrong here though.

It looks like there would be much more than 2" needed to get to 18", then you would also have to make sure OAL is 26"

Remember I am in 'Zona. Would it be easy to obtain a Replica, or have one built, and then registered as an SBS?

Here's a "short" guide (http://www.arizonagunlist.com/How_to_buy_NFA_class3_weapons_with_a_revocable_liv ing_trust_without_a_CLEO_signoff.html) to acquiring NFA firearms in AZ.

It changes nothing if the barrel is under 18".

under Cali law both would be an SBS (with or without shoulder stock ) Under federal law though, if there is no shoulder stock then it is an AOW semi-auto/pump has no bearing on SBS vs AOW IIRC.... I am pretty sure

You're in AZ... totally different. whether it is SBS or AOW, you should be able to get it
