Finally picked up my first handgun today. The 10 day wait is seriously a PITA! :mad:

Picked up a XD9 subcompact essential package and a set of snap caps with 100 rounds of Blazer 9mm.

Do I need to lube or clean the gun in anyway before I use it? I've been playing with snap caps for the time being. :)

I would at least field strip it and check that there's no foreign debris that would impede function, especially the barrel:) I usually detail strip and clean everything, but you don't have to.

Welcome! I think you purchased the Service Model, the sub compact is alot smaller :)
As other calgunners stated, a good clean before you break it in.
