Anyone wanna go shooting in these here parts? I love Angeles but it's a drive (esp that time when the bridge washed out..hooo boy!).

I'm a member of Rainbow Valley Gun Range off of the 15 @ Fallbrook (near Pala), We got steel, shotguns, rifles, rimfires, handguns only, everything! $5.00 for guests and I can bring two at a time.

I'll be there this weekend. Lemme know if you wanna tag along. I got me some 10mm and 44 Mag loads you can help me test.:)

I'm a member down the way at EF&G private range. I've been thinking to get up to rainbow to shoot something..anything really..mainly just because I haven't taken the time to find it..oh and pala too.

02-14-2007, 9:59 PM
Welp, if yer willing to drive down a bit, we can shoot there. It's a nice range. No ROs. The shooters police themselves and no one gets upset if you rapid fire as long as you keep it at a reasonable rate.

You gonna go Sat or Sun?

02-15-2007, 10:04 AM
I can go on both days. It's almost next door to me :)

02-15-2007, 2:19 PM
I'll be going right by there about 10 am on Sunday. If you'll be out there i'll stop and shoot with ya. Thanks, Rob

02-15-2007, 2:24 PM
ok...lets get out there at 10 on Sunday... I'm driving a white nissan xterra. just reply to assure us that you'll be there to let us in.

02-15-2007, 6:21 PM
10 AM Sunday sounds gud here.

Me: Old blue Toyota car with a roof rack. I'll be parked near the range office.

I'm bringing my new nickel 29-10 and a Kimber 10mm among other things. If you folks are bringing rifles then I will bring my AR15 as well.

I'm assuming both of you know how to get to Rainbow Gun Range?

02-15-2007, 6:39 PM
I know it is off Rainbow Canyon but dont know the exact spot. I will bring a couple rifles with me.

02-15-2007, 7:58 PM
From the 15 take the Rainbow Valley exit (54 IIRC). Go East through the 4 way stop and to the T. Make a left at the T. The entrance to the range is on the right hand side about 100 yards down. There is a wide angle mirror on a tree across the road from the range entrance. Drive onto the paved path and onto the graded dirt road. You will end up behind the rifle range. The Range Office is just past the rifle range.

See ya

Yes it is, but it's membership only. I think they are accepting memberships right now. It's $100 sumthin for new members and proof of NRA membership is required. Call ahead and ask:

BTW, I had a great time shooting both bullets and the breeze with rmeyer today!:) Too bad Mike couldn't make it but there's always next time :)

02-20-2007, 10:22 AM
Thanks again Frank for having me out. Have to do it again soon as i'm gonna be signing up out there. If anyone gets a chance to tag along Frank is a good guy and a safe shooter. They are accepting new members and it is 125.00 the 1st year and 100 thereafter with proof of NRA membership.

02-20-2007, 10:48 AM
I didn't get back home until 11:30 plus I came down with a pretty crappy head cold. maybe next time...

If anyone gets a chance to tag along Frank is a good guy and a safe shooter.

Heck yeah I'm safe! I don't hit anything!:)

Alright, I couldn't get enough of the car alarm inducing 44 mag (and this is an outdoor range) so I'll be there again on Saturday @ 10 AM.

02-21-2007, 5:44 PM
You need to show proof of NRA membership and $125.00

02-23-2007, 12:37 PM

My wife is out of town with the daughter on a girl scout overnighter so I'm watching the boy all weekend. I am booked up next weekend as well. After that I am free on Saturdays so please post next time you're going and I will meet up for sure.

What a fun day that was!

Racko's got a coupla super sweet Colts! A 22 Diamondback and a 357 Lawman. Yeah I wanted to drool all over that 22 but I kept my poker face.:)

The man himself is super nice. He's also a natural with a 1911 (which he said he's never shot before).

Looking forward to shooting with you again Pat!

How big are the ranges?

02-25-2007, 10:47 AM
There are several ranges in the facility.

Two rimfire only ranges. One handgun and rifle and one rifle only.

One 100 yd rifle range with about 10 - 12 stations.

One shotgun range with a house for throwing birds.

One 150 yd rifle range with 1 or 2 stations. Hardly gets used because it involves shutting down the shotgun range.

One 10 yard handgun range with falling steel silhouette targets. I spend most of my time here.

One 15/25/50 yard handgun range with about 8 or 10 stations.

One 7 yard handgun range with hanging steel plates. Using this shuts down the shotgun range.

One whatever you wanna do as long as you do it safely range. Basically open ground with a backstop and some target stands. Likewise, using this shuts down the shotgun range.

All this and only half a mile from the I-15 :D

Hi all,
This is my first time at this website.
I stumbled onto it while looking for more info about the shooting area around Hodge Road between Victorville and Barstow.
I have recently seen conflicting info about this area.
Some say it is closed to all shooting and others say it is still open.
I have been shooting at Hodge Road for about 20 years, and the last time I went there was in June '06.
According to some reports, it was closed to shooting in 2003.
Does anyone have any info on this area?
