Don't know if it's been posted before. I think I may take on this project. If I made it without a magwell could I turn it into a single shot pistol? Or since its screwed together I could make a single shot adapter.

I was thinking(watch out).....If you constructed the trigger group section you can make any caliber magwell. You could design a new magwell that bolts on for ever upper you have. .308, .223, 7.62 x 39(AK mags), and one to take 10/22 mags. I know theres is a lower out there already that does this. I forgot the name. This would something I could do myself.

It's a nice article. Just use simple drill press to create an AR style lower receiver.:)

Not really that easy, unless you also make your proprietary uppers like Cobb. MGI is trying to do with an AR-15 what you are suggesting and still hasn't come out with the .308 magwell version due to engineering problems.

Well if you look at the design of this lower, it seems that all you would have to do would be to extend the two side plates of the magwell. Unless the .308mag release button is in a different position.

You must be smarter than MGI; they have been working on this for almost two years. Download some AR-15 and AR-19 blueprints, that should give you a clue.

I have never seen any blueprints or any .308 lowers up close. I only mentioned that it SEEMS or looks like thats all that needs to be done. I'm not sure how different the two lowers (.223 .308) are, regarding the mag catch and trigger group. Sorry that it sounded like a statement I should have phased as a question. I was hoping for some more technical answers, i.e. mag catch is in a different location or the trigger group in completely different.
