It's Baa-aaa-ack!
Looks like CA assemblyman Mike Feuer (D-Hollywood/Beverly Hills/etc.) has brought back a monumental piece of idiocy, a new microstamping bill.
This time, there's a twist - Feuer's brain trust wants to have microstamp on the face of the firing pin, and on the side of the chamber.
Expect to see this bill - at least first incarnation thereof - on Friday 23 Feb.
This would, from a practical standpoint, ban all new handguns in CA since the goal they seek (accurately marked ammo casings) is not readily or reliably reproducible, esp. w/wear over time, varieties of ammo casings (steel, nickel plated, polymer coating, etc.) Also, the goal they seek is readily avoided by changing of firing pins, bbls, etc.
There is a chance this is a feel-good bill, but Feuer has had a stench about him for years.
Unity, my brothers - we'll need to have Calguns and NRA folks and gunnies of all stripes ready for opposition. We need to repeat 2006 again!

I think it is a good idea. It would solve many crimes and be a step forward in our quest of protecting the children.

Sure would, it would take off the street all those bad handguns that hunt people down and kill them one by one all by themselves and those BG's need some more practice with a dremel tool any way.

this would'nt work. people might need a new firing pin and barrel. they could buy a new slide unless they were also restricted.

Dang I wish I had these microstamping things on all of my guns... then maby they'd stop running out and shooting people on their own... we need to hold them accountable for their actions.

Wow... some more info...
Apparently the Bradyites - separate from Feuer's staff- have been making the rounds up in Sacto and the local offices of your representatives.
Appears these folks have the politco-social skills of an autistic ADD 5 year old on speed:
... getting multiple reports they've been kicked out of several senator & assembly offices, apparently even by some non-pro-gun legislators. One of the Brady gals keeps threatening to picket a senator's office with 'dead baby pictures' and starts yelling. That's a sure way to get what you want - the ability to leave a legislator's office in an assisted fashion.
This has the sound of it perhaps being associated w/Brady's Ellyne Bell, apparently she went 'ballistic' during some union-busting activity down in AZ when she was ran some kind of social work agency...

We will have to flood them with letters/calls when the times right.

Ready to send in letters.
With all the talk about reloading, marking your own brass as SDlocal suggests is like being out on the links... Instead of golf balls, could this work for the bullets?

These people are the most pathetic pieces of scum I have ever heard of. And obviously they know nothing about guns otherwise they would realize how difficult this would be to enforce and how expensive guns and ammo would become (although this is a good thing in their eyes).

Why not microchip/stamp/brand/tag criminals instead? I think that sounds like a more reasonable thing to pursue.

They do realize the negative impact that such legislation would have on law abiding gun owners while at the same time having no effect on crime and criminals. That's why legislators continually introduce such useless and unconstitutional laws regarding our right to keep and bear arms!

What we really need is microstamping for worthless anti-gun bills.
Every time one of these bills is fired, it automatically gets this appropriate stamp!

Word I'm hearing is that Million Mommy March Mary Blek and her husband Charles, accompanying the Brady campaign, are acting out, screaming in Senator or assemblyman offices....
Not sure on exact count of how many they got kicked out of, but apparently the ranting & raving was pretty strong...
Mary & Charles Blek did have to suffer the unfortunate shooting loss of their son (IIRC, it was by illegal aliens) however their goals should not include tax fraud (which was part of the Million Mom March vs Brady Campaign stuff, misuse of SF Gen. Hospital offices entangled w/Trauma Foundation, as exposed by Jim March, etc.)

I have had a loaded gun mere inches from my head for 5-9 hours a day for the better part of a decade, it has not tried to kill me yet.
Perhaps I have yet to piss it off.
Stupid bill, I have a feeling there will be many more to come.

MICRO-stamping? I prefer MONDO-stamping. As in right on the forehead. Up front and center. Like the old 'A' branded on adulterer from the pilgrim days. Yep. Been all for that for decades. CP for child porn, M for murder, R for robber, G for gang member... To Hades with their rights!
Branding guns? Waste of time and taxpayer money. It's no good to have a microstamp without the database of numbers administered by a whole new bureaucracy. And I bet those politicians know just who would be best to run that show too...;)

Hey I have an Idea. lets get a bill introduced for MACROSTAMPING. We would get every felon, gangbanger, lowlife, pedophile etc.. MACROSTAMPED across the forehead. We could have them tattoed with their crimes on their forehead so we could all easily identify them on sight. That and their names.. then maybe we would not have to microstamp anything. Course we would ahve OUTLAW/BAN those EVIL (especially black) beanie skull caps that could be used to hide or alter the MACROSTAMPING!
HAHAHA...
When will they learn, its the criminal, not the handgun.

Hate to say it but we should just legalize drugs anfd put these a**holes out of business. Oh that and give all CALGUNERS a CCW. And a free handgun of choice...or at least a taxbreak for one handgun bigger than .380.

If you know a nut job I suggest you convince them to join the Brady Bunch. The more nut jobs running around Sacramento trying to ban guns the better.

I have a very big issue with this. Being a reloader I know that a damaged case can blow up your gun, hand, face. I know that I would not want some stamp thinning out the case wall of my brass. Also, how easy would it be to pick up another shooters case with a micro stamp and reload the round and shooter someone with your non-stamping pistol. Now someone is dead with another shooter stamp on it. Are you freak'in telling me that everyone will have to pick up every case they fire at the range, BLM, woods for fear that some will try to frame them. There are so many holes in this idea that it falls right under insanity.
I want to fly like super man so I'm going start a bill to ban gravity. Without gravity children won't fall from trees or fall into pools! WONT SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!!!!

They seem to have a clock on it ? Why do see if it is a bad gun that gets up and goes down to rob the local 7/11 ?
Maybe they are prompting the legislature to make us all put camera's on our rifles ? I guess this could mean I will add track lightning to my safe's interior ?
BTW I do have CCTV Cameras for sale.

Their FAQ page.
http://www.assaultweaponwatch.com/faq.html
Frequently Asked Questions
The assault weapon ban targeted bayonet lugs for a reason. Where's the bayonet?
Many people have pointed this out - that bayonets are a large part of street violence with these weapons and this rifle should be equipped with one. We are currently accepting donations to buy a bayonet for it.
Why doesn't the picture update as fast as I click "reload" anymore?
The load on our servers and the amount of bandwidth we were using was straining our meager budget, so we now only upload new frames every few seconds instead of streaming the video.
Aren't you afraid an underprivileged urban-outdoorsman might break in and steal the rifle?
No, we have the rifle and camera setup in a secured office building with an alarm system. Besides, if criminals actually stole the weapons they later used in crimes, gun control laws wouldn't make much sense.
How big is that thing?
It's actually quite large. It's well over three feet long and weighs about ten pounds! We were taken aback when we purchased this, because we expected a cheap, small, and easily concealable weapon that would be more logical for use in a crime, not this beast that is anything but!
It really cost $1,500?
Yes. People keep asking this. It was one of the first things we learned in our endeavor - assault weapons are apparently some of the most expensive weapons you can buy. The really strange thing is we have also discovered that assault weapons use lower powered cartridges, and actually are a lot less powerful than a shotgun or a hunting rifle! We would like to obtain a dreaded 50 caliber assault weapon that our fellow anti-gun groups keep pushing to ban, but were aghast to discover that these cost $8,000 and weigh 40 pounds!
Ok, they're less powerful, but they shoot really fast?
No. We actually watched someone fire one just like ours at the range when we bought it. It does not go bangbangbang and spray bullets like in the movies!! It only fires one shot with each pull of the trigger. Apparently this is also just like a more powerful semi-automatic hunting rifle. We have no doubt that this does not effect the lethality of these weapons, though, because what hunting rifle has a bayonet lug!
Have you seen any violence yet?
No, but we have no doubt that we will soon. We have only been watching this for a little over a month. We started this web site so that others could help us watch - we do not know what happens when we go home at night!
Is that a flash hider on that thing?
Yes, on the end of the barrel, that's an actual flash hider!

Bill: Can you or Mike or anyone post more details about what specifically is proposed this time around?
Does he want to have numbers magically engraved on the firing pin which would emboss the spent casing, does he want bullets microstamped, what?
It would greatly help me and others articulate a better argument.
Thanks
