I just put together my first OLL build and I'm not thrilled with the metal buttstock on the A2 stock. I build this one out as a varmit rifle. Does anyone know of an after market rubber pad that replaces the metal plate? I would prefer one that bolts on in it place instead of a slip-on.

Any particular reason you don't like the metal buttplate?

Continuity of feel. Not that it won't work or the recoil is to much:p ... it just feels strange to me. All of my hunting rifles have padded buttstocks (including my 17HMR). It just helps me move from one platform to another and get used to it quicker.

Same here... all I've ever seen has been some kind of polymer.

I haven't seen any soft ones that weren't slip ons. Bushmaster makes a composite one that extends the butt about 1.5" here:

I stand corrected.:o :o At closer inspection only the trap door is aluminum, it had me fooled. Itís the standard DPMS A2 stock.
