Hi guys,

I've owned a shotgun for a few years and have only taken it to the range twice. I would like to become more proficient (hunting, training course, etc).

My first logical step it would seem is taking a firearms training course. But I am confused as to which course I have to take in order be able to do things like hunt. The Google results I get for searches like firearm safety course california (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=firearm+safety+course+california#pq=firearm+safe ty+course+california&hl=en&sugexp=kjrmc&cp=32&gs_id=7&xhr=t&q=firearm+safety+course+california&qe=ZmlyZWFybSBzYWZldHkgY291cnNlIGNhbGlmb3JuaWE&qesig=pyY7-k5PLc5VShYlcwNbMA&pkc=AFgZ2tkPmVDzJiOvT5BhvaQTHgqPXlVy-3FNi_QDVbdKQEAf2_gt8i_CeErzxCCJDc6TfCM04cykAD5VIi6 bJXHL4pDT1Y6F0Q&pf=p&sclient=psy-ab&source=hp&pbx=1&oq=firearm+safety+course+california&aq=0&aqi=g1&aql=f&gs_sm=&gs_upl=&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.,cf.osb&fp=b571422ac7922aeb&biw=1280&bih=896) are confusing at best (for me at least).

What course do I have to take in order to be able to hunt?

And is this online course a valid program?

I'm a total noob so pardon what probably seems like silly questions.

Oh, and can I change my username? I misspelled Musashi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miyamoto_Musashi)!

i would contact a Mod and ask them about correcting your user name.

for hunting, you have to take a hunter safety course.

Now I know Musashi! I looked it up. Welcome and I hope you find the info you need. I don't hunt myself. Too bloody, I'm a vegetarian anyway.

I am not all that different. Some college friends of mine want me to go hunting with them. I agreed only on the condition that we eat what we kill. I am hoping to be ready to hunt and not a complete goofball by the time we eventually do go hunting.

I've tried going vegetarian in the past but we Mexicans can't live without our red meat!

A mod can't do it. You need an Admin to change your username.

Like everyone else was suggesting, goto Turner's or a gun store. You'll find when there are hunter safety classes going on. They have just a class, and then there are classes with live fire. I'd recommend the later. Also, they should have info for someone offering NRA certified firearm courses for everything else. Welcome to the club.
