Hey guys:

I want to take my dad to a range to get used to the 870 I got him for Christmas(life long mossberg owner). He never had a Remington before and I want to get him acquinted with using it. I didn't get a license this year for waterfowl so I can't take him to mosslanding and shoot a few rounds off. Where in the area can I take him that allows him to shoot a shotgun? Markley's is pistol and 22LR only indoors, I don't have a membership for scotts valley, do I need to drive down to Laguna Seca or over the hill to los altos or something like that?

Los Altos would probably be the closest thing to you, unless you live closer to Watsonville such as in Aptoss or maybe Capitola. I go to Santa Cruz all the time and have never noticed a range. In a town that features the pink umbrella man, I naturally doubt such a place exists.

There are two shotgun ranges in Morgan Hill, which is an hour away from downtown Santa Cruz. I don't know if that's closer than Los Altos to you.

You're about 70 minutes away from two shotgun ranges in Morgan Hill. I can give you directions if you like.

From what I understand it started off as an experiment. He wanted to see what kind of reactions he'd get from people. I wonder what his day job is.

Roger [pink umbrella dude] is a character, but props to him, he can stand there all day with a smile on his face and be perfectly happy without bothering people. Next time you see him, ask to take a pic with him and he'll gladly do it.

I'm a semi-regular visitor to the area.
Not to hijack too much, but what are the two shotgun ranges in Morgan Hill. I know ow Coyote Clays and plan to hit it up, what's the other?

And, I have to hit up Field Sports also, unless that's what you meant.

That's the two, coyote valley and field sports park. Same freeway exit even.
