Hi Jim,

What are your requirements for a private class? I'm asking because I am curious if we can set up something at my house (3 hours) for a group of Calgunners that live in the immediate area (West Contra Costa) near Pinole. Does Utah CCW require any range qualification time? Thanks.

Jim, does your Sac date still have room? For next weekend?

I would love to see CA recognize other states:(

Yes, I read that! Thanks for pointing it out JGarrison, I should have asked in a different way. So here goes.

So Jim, a lot of states require range qualification. What is the reason behind Utah's decision not to include that?

Better?:p

Unfortunately, Nevada does not honor any other states CCW permit. So, until they come up with a statute allowing reciprocity or to recognize other permits the only way to carry concealed in NV will be to apply for the NV permit. Several have asked if I will be teaching the NV class. I have spoken to the Sheriff's office in one of the counties and they have accepted my curriculum. I need to take care of some paperwork items to get that going. That would entail going to NV to make it happen. In addition, the NV permit class MUST be held within the confines of the state. So, any NV classes that I would teach would have to be in NV.

Absolutely! On both counts. I do have room and I would love to see CA recognize other states. This state needs to become "shall issue". I hope to see that happen in my lifetime.

To set up a class we need a minimum of 10 students and a place to hold the class. No range qual needed for the Utah class.

Why? Not sure. It would probably help with reciprocity and recognition. Utah has their minimum guidelines for the class and live fire is not part of it. I can add live fire to the curriculum if I submit an updated, notarized course outline that they then approve.

I would be in for a Bay Area class in the next couple weeks (or whenever really). Anyone else interested? Can we get a group of 10 going?
