For my target loads I am planning to use Varget or Win 748 powers.
For plinking I need something less expensive.
It seems that military powder twice cheaper.
Just wondering if any military powder available for 308 Win with reloading data?
One of those?

Also I am thinking to organize some kind of group buy to save on haz fees and shipping.

Thank you for advise

Oleg, let me know what you find out. I might be interested in jumping on a group buy if the timing is right ($$$).

For plinking that sounds great.

It's a ball powder with the same burning rate as BLC2. I loaded a bunch of .308, but I used mine for match shooting. The .308 worked fine, but I went back to IMR 4895 because I started using the 846 for my high weight .223,80gr, 75gr. It is a good load powder for .223 also. I use 23.5gr of 846 for both the 75gr hornady and Sierra 80gr. If all your going to use it for is plinking with 147gr bullets then I would try 43.5 gr. You can't go wrong with the pull down military powder. It's all I use, and I'm a high power Master shooter.

Found this PDF document at AR15.com, it was mentioned in the thread at SnipersHide mentioned previously: ARMY TM43-0001-27.pdf (http://www.ar15.com/content/manuals/TM43-0001-27.pdf).

This looks to have the load data for 7.62x51 (using WC-846) and 5.56 (using WC-844) in it.

Since I don't have a .308 rifle yet I'd be interested in a can of WC-844 for reloading .223. There's also some bullets I'd like to purchase, don't know if it makes sense to lump those in with the GB or not. Let us know Oleg when you're ready to do this.

Thanks!

John

John A good load for 62gr is 25gr of 844. If your going to use 69 sierra use 24.5gr. If your going to shoot 75 hornady or 80gr sierra use 23.5gr of 846 if you can get it. Patsreloading has the 846.

I was thinking of these: 224, 55 PSP Hornady w/can, 500-35.99, 1000-$ 64.99. This is just for plinking, in a 1x9 twist barrel.

I will call
http://www.patsreloading.com
tomorrow to find out exact cost on shipping.
It is easy if we order powder only. If we order bullets as well we need to re-calculate shipping shares accordantly.

I will rename thread to indicate group buy. We need at least 4 (8 pounds) orders.
I might go with using WC-846 for all my loads. In this case I will buy 2 (8 pounds)

Sent mail to request shipping cost on following:
1. WC-844, WC-846 (4 units minimum)
2. 308- CBC Pulled Bullets, 147 FMJ-BT, rolled crimp ring and US Style Canalure Mixed, no pull marks, 1000- $64.99
3. 224, 55 PSP Hornady w/can, 500-35.99, 1000-$ 64.99.
