Considering it's his second thread about the exact same thing, I'd say he's just excited :D

I think that's his question, but I'm not 100% sure.

Why cheap out on the irons? I'd go Midwest or Troy.

Why pay more for irons if magpuls work fine at a fraction of the cost?

sorry guys, pretty late last night when I posted my second thread. I was just wondering if there was anything missing or any input on how I could make this better or not without spending more money? thanks.

Same could be said for the rest of his stuff. Why not a Stag upper vs DD?

You should update the first post with this info! I would definitely go with the mod 4 gunfighter. I really like the medium latch but that's just my opinion.

Are you planing on running optics? Red dot or scope?

Looks like it should be a really nice build!

Yes I plan on running optics.

Keep in mind that a 9" rail will not cover up the low profile gas block on a mid length barrel.

Do you really need irons and an optic?

From my understanding. Iron sights role is for back up. So if that's the case, yes. Unless I'm missing something. Thanks for letting me know about the 9" rail, I will swap it out for the 12" instead. I would also like to thank every who for their productive and positive responses. Much appreciated.

I think every gun needs iron sights. The real debate is whether optics are needed.

Post pics. I just picked up a DD upper and was also considering a Spikes lower. Is the finish on both identical?

I do not have it yet, it is being ordered. ETA? That's why I'm trying to get everyone's input before I do. Less costly that way. Can't wait to see your pics.

Sounds like a nice build, congrats. I'd probably opt for some different sights but that's just me. I shoot optics too, but always get in some practice with the sights every session.
Nothing against the mbuis, there are just others I like
better. Id also add a sling.

I utilize my iron sights more than my red dot. Practice with iron sights youll be glad you did! And btw that would be a nice build.

With a midlength barrel and a 9in rail your low profile gas block will be expose. You know that right?

I do now, I'm stuck on which dd rail system I should use. AR15 12" lite rail, or according to larry vicker the new gold standard interface system (ris). I'm buying my 16" mid from smartgunner and I have 2 options, low pro gas block or fixed front sight. Ideas? Omega x, lite rail or RIS? iron sight set up with optics. Thanks.

The DD lite doesn't come with a QD sling mount so if you want to run a 2-pt sling and add a sling mount it will end up weighing more than a Omega.

As for the RIS... do you have a M203 40mm grenade launcher? If not, there's no point in geting a RIS.

I run a 11" Larue rail on my 16" middy and I'm happy. Its the perfect lenght based on where I hold it and where I mount the light. 10" wouldn't have allowed me to get the light in the right position for me. Here's a picture of a 16" middy with 11" rail. The rail extends past the gas block by about 0.25" to 0.5".
