What year did you build your first AR with a OLL (Off List Lower)? If you have a pic of that first one post it!

My first one was built in 2006. I went to the range with a friend of mine who brought a friend that had built 5 Ar's with OLL's. That's how I learned about OLL's.

So my first OLL was a CMMG. I built the rest of the gun with a Model 1 sales kit.

Here's a pic of it. (Note: I had trouble finding 10 round mags so I had to convert one of my 30 round mags into a 10 rounder. It hurt me to do it!!!)

And a pic of it in it's last configuration before It was entirely rebuilt. (Obviously it's the closest one in the pic)

This range looks familiar, Angeles Shooting range familiar. Your rifles look very nice, hard to believe they were from Model1. If you are still looking for 10/30 mags, Addax tactical in the San Fernando Valley stock them.

First pic was taken at "A Place To Shoot" and the second pic was taken at "Angeles range".

Actually only my first AR was built with Model 1 Sales parts. There wasn't much available back then and I was still learning what parts to use and what parts not to use. (actually I'm still learning )

It was either 2001, 2002 or 2003. Can't remember. I didn't have a digital camera back then so I don't have pictures of it. Used an out of spec lower from Vulcan and they refused to correct their issue as they were all out of spec back then. Shortly there after built my second one using a Lauer Custom Weaponry Lower and it was perfect.

I thought my first build was in 2002 because my Mom has a picture of me at the range with it dated Feb of 2003 on the back. That's actually what made me start this thread. I was over at her house last night when she showed the picture to me and I couldn't believe it was that long ago. I think the date on the picture is wrong! The best I can figure it must have been late 2005 or early 2006.

2004, Machined these %80 with the help of my father.........they originally had a nut on the mag release.

originally wanted a spikes lower, but the store sold me a c3 defense lower (which i never actually see on this board, i swear i am the only one that has one) anyway, i built an a2 clone out of it.

just last year actually. I have a lot of friends that have been building ARs forever, but I never really was interested until I just had to have an AR pistol.

Pretty simple and straight forward.

Milled out 80% lower, so its as OLL as you can get!
LMT upper.
Rifle extension (no I do not own a rifle stock, so all the "constructive possession police" can relax"

Crappy pic, Id have a better camera if I didnt spend my $$ on gun stuff!

Well it started this year and I hope to finish this year!

2010 - Spikes stripped lower.

I was late to the party.

'08. CMMG. It was the only one I could get at the time and it still gets a lot of trigger time.

10-15-2011, 12:37 AM
2008, A Noveske lower from Coldwar Shooters for $249  and I thought that was a good price. Still going through the Obama frenzy at the time...grabbed anything I could find.

2006, Built this Stag Lower while I was stationed in Oklahoma, had just gotten back from my Mitt deployment in Iraq and missed my M-4. It was built with a Model 1 Carbine kit, still have it with some slight changes and still a great gun, lower cost a whopping $75, whole rifle was put together for $450

My first was an Essential Arms cast lower built up in 1989. That was the dark ages of AR building...I guess first postlist offlist was a Fab10 singledigit serial #

In 2004 or 2005 I bought a Vulcan lower. I mated it with a Colt upper in 2006 or 2007 for budget reasons.

Before that I was in to off-list uppers for FAL rifles...

10-15-2011, 9:44 PM
Built my first OLL about two years ago. It's the FDE one on the bottom, Lauer Custom Weaponry LMT lower. My first built stripped lower was a Bushmaster RAW back in 1999(top rifle).

Even ran across the receipt from Arrowhead Outdoor Sports.

Late to the game... 2010.

Still needs a bipod and scope.

Hello, good post)

1989, always wanted an AR-15 but when that ahole, Patrick Purdy (if I remember right) shot up those kids in that Stockton schoolyard, I knew what was coming and bought myself a stripped lower as soon as I could. I built myself an A2 / Hbar w/ 20" barrel. When Roos-Roberti was passed, I sent in my registration form and believe it or not, the DOJ sent it back to me because it was not on the list. Cool!!! But, when SB 89 passed, I disassembled it and had a box of parts. A few months ago, I realized that I had an OLL receiver and reassembled it. Just got lucky that I bought a brand that was off the radar. Shot it for the 1st time in over 10 years last Monday. Can't describe how good that felt.

2008-2009 I believe. Somewhere in there.

10-16-2011, 11:16 AM

Jeez... must have been around 2007. Put this thing together, and decided it weighed a lot more than it should.

Turned into this bad boy... probably only a BIT lighter.

10-16-2011, 11:25 AM
This is not the first that I bought, but the first that I assembled. It's a Spike's Tactical, pictured with a DTI M4 upper.

It was 2008 - complete/dedicated Spikes ST-22SD from LanWorldInc.com :)
