When it comes to ar type im a complete noob.I did a little research on the topic,so im not completely ignorant.I want to build ar pistol.I havent decided yet on the upper, dont know yet if im going to buy a fully assembled or build one from scratch.
As far as the lower goes. For the pistol build, from my research,it looks like it is easier to buy a stripped lower and just register it as a pistol.Thats how it works, right?Or should it be a fully assembled lower, already registered as a pistol, and converted to a 1 shot?
Any parts sources that you guys recommend that are local?Im in sfv,so.cal.
Thanx in advance.

Unless you are a LEO, you cannot register a stripped lower receiver as a 'pistol'.

You can however PPT one from another person, provided it was registered correctly at time of purchase.

Correct, you could also buy an 80% lower and finish it yourself. The easiest way in my opinion would be to take advantage of EBR's upper buy back program. In which they sell you the complete AR pistol and after DROS and pickup you have the option of selling them back the upper and buying/building an upper of your choice.

Does 80 % lower work pretty much the same as ak receivers as far as registration part?No need to register it unless you want to and preferably having your own manufacturing markings?

Yep, no need to mark unless you want to transfer it

Tactical Machine makes good ones (that I've used). I think there's a group buy going on now but not sure the thread. A quick search should find it if you decide to go that route.
