I usually do not entertain peoples crackpot ideas, but this one was so looney I found myself kind of intrigued. I was shooting with a couple friends and one of them was thinking of a device that hooks to your finger, and only your finger that makes it flutter back and fourth. The Multi Burst Trigger Activator law states that it is a device that "attaches to a firearm". This device attaches to your finger/hand only and is completely independent of the firearm. The device itself makes no contact with the fiirearm whatsoever. It simply assists your finger in moving back and fourth faster. A splint for your finger, a pushrod, a hinge, something like that. Robocop and a good laugh was the first thing that came to mind, but then I thought, maybe he's not so crazy?

While legally gray/okay area, you have to think about the common sense portion -- how do you make the thing safe?

Weak hand activation of some kind? Mouth/foot switch? How do you stop shooting if some dumbass runs in front of the firing line or a hang glider decides to land on your 100yard target line. (has happened at my shooting range before)

Connect it directly to the Central Nervous System. :D

Have a surgeon pull your tendons tighter.

it would be relatively easy to make. It would require a fairly tight glove and an electromagnet. Use a tiny switch that is activated when you flex your finger to pull the trigger. This activates an electromagnet (or a cogged motor) that pulls your finger off the trigger and then shuts off. Your continued flexing of the finger reactivates the trigger and the switch causing the motor to pull your finger off again. It would allow you to fire as long as you keep trying to flex your finger and would "deactivate" the moment you stop trying to pull the trigger.

Of course getting all the pieces to work perfectly with the right amount of pull etc. would be difficult and it would really work nothing like a normal gun so it would probably wreak havoc on your shooting in general.

As for its legality I'll leave that one up to the "experts."

Depends on wether or not your finger is considered "attached" to the trigger while pulling it.

This could be done by making the switch be activated by a differentjoint on the finger, or even by a different finger... It would just take a bit of discipline to relax your "flappy" finger into doing this.

Give this guy a call, he might be able to work something out.

Finally! A legitimate use for those "joy buzzer" things!

Why don't you just throw your ammo in the river if you want to get rid of it quickly?

No, no, you don' unnerSTAN'.

Last week at the range there was some guy with, so help me, a 100-round drum on an AK. (Don't ask the obvious. I don't know either).

No idea what he was shooting at, certainly not able to hit any obvious targets.

These sorts of things almost never happen unless they bring their girlfriends, too. Therefore I conclude that this is used as a substitute for Viagra.

With the advancements being made in prostethics these days, it wouldn't surprise me at all if this happened in my lifetime.

With the price of ammo these days, you'd be better off with a wi-fi connection to an ATM.

FYI: Firing a semi-auto this way is referred to as "popcorning" bring your own butter. Boys will be boys.

If the guy ends up making one, I wont get one for my gun... Now my wife? There's a possibility.

I saw a device like that once. It was in an adult book store and wasn't made for your finger.:D

I know a good hand surgeon when you try this thing

You could make a device which automatically kicks your finger forwards via solenid when it reaches a certain position- that way you just pull the trigger normally and maintain pressure.

A lot of effort to waste ammo, IMO.

Or- stick a needle in the right place and hook it up to an electric muscle stimulator :D

Or- practice like crazy and become Jerry Miculek.
