Well, I got my gun up and functioning now. I got it the trigger set to 1lb, 2oz which is great for a factory accutrigger. Got it out to the range and took me just a few shots to get it dialed in after doing a manual bore sight. (looking down the barrel with binoculars, and setting the crosshairs accordingly) It was only about an inch off at 25 yards, and I went ahead and just got it right on the money at 25 yards not remembering what the drop is at 100. I figured ballistics were going to be similar to an AR. Anyway, at 25 yards, remington ballistic tips were just tearing a little hole for 5 shot groups. I put about 5-6 groups using that down there and it was literally boring. Trigger was awesome, although the magazine seems to want to kick the rounds almost higher than the bore so I may try another magazine. They were all the way up higher than the chamber on some tries, it was kind of odd. Shot CCI, Winchester supreme, Remington accutip?, and Hornady Vmax. The CCI shot pretty good but the winner was hands down the VMAX. I started getting a bit rushed so I put up 2" shoot-n-see's on some butcher paper and was shooting 5 shot groups. Most of them were about 1.5" groups and I think it was a combo of me being rushed to get rounds down range fast, and a 15mph wind moving right to left in front of me. All things considered, it shot great. Best group of the day was about 3/4", and the worst was about 2.5" from a bipod and rear bag. I'm going to go out again when I have a bit less pressure and only bring that one gun. I have about half the ammo left so I should be good to go for a bit longer. Wish I had pics but I don't so sorry about that but boy it sure is an accurate little rimfire. By the time I get it all dialed in, I think it should should half to 3/4" groups all day.

Probably everything you wanted to know and more about .17HMR ballistics. Might save you some ammo:http://www.varmintal.com/17hmr.htm

Here's what I got my trigger down to just playing with the factory setup. Cut a couple coils here and there and still functions flawlessly. The safety is still functional, accutrigger blade still works outstanding, and smacking the buttstock a few times no accidental discharging or anything like that so I'm VERY pleased that a factory trigger can get down to 1lb, 2oz.

Not that its necessarily proof, but this is what it will break at consistently every time.

Very nice looking rig. Did you solve the magazine issue? I'm picking up a Savage 93R17 BVSS on Monday.

I have read where the Savage 17s need 300-500 rounds down the barrel before they settle in for really good accuracy.

Also read that Hornady makes all the ballistic tip ammo regardless of the brand but with different powder loads/types. Not surprising that the Hornady Vmax shoots the best since Hornady developed the 17HMR round but you never know unless you try all the available ammo.

Haven't gotten it out since that last time. I'm gonna buy 2 or 3 more mags of different types and see if that fixes the prob. There is a company making plastic 10 round mags that I wanna try out. At this point I only have about 125 rounds down the pipe and one good cleaning.
