View Full Version : what is this on my grip?

So, there is this little protrusion on my Rossi 357 grip. I think it is the other end of the screw. Why would it be left like that, or is it intentional? It does kind of make a nice little finger rest.

Look at the photo, the bump is next to my thumb.

Any thoughts?

That is unusual. The other end of the screw usually goes into an escutcheon.

Take off the grips and see what it is.

Take the grips off and see what it is. It would be strange if the screws were too long, but there's no way of knowing without taking the grip off.

maybe it is intended for a finger rest. I am new to revolvers. I will have my father in law take the rubber grip off and watch and learn I suppose.

It's a tracking device. :TFH: :TFH:

Or it could be a pin that's working its way out. Is it easy to remove the grip from the revolver? That would remove all doubt.

I am sorry, but your revolver has an STD... I will give you some time alone...

haha! STD... :)

Let us just say my gun is unique... Jk.
I will probably have a gun smith look at it.
But so far, I think it is just a design. When I hold it, my middle finger rests on it. I mean, I would be a little surprised if the company just let flaws like that get by.

actually, I saw some other pics of other people's rossi 357 and they have the same bump.

SOOOOOO, I guess I will just enjoy my little bump on my magnum! BTW, the gun kicks ***; I am not just saying that because I am the owner. I am new to revolvers, but not to shooting. This is the most fun I ever had at the range.

It's just the screw thats been tightened down too tight , my Rossi 971C also has it if I try to tighten it too far.
