If you could choose one off roster handgun for ccw purposes what would it be and why? I'm thinking about an EMP in .40..

THats a broad question, but Ill tell you which one I just got: Kel-tec pf9. Going to put it on my ccw

Probably about 1k as far as budget. I know it's a broad question, I was just curious and getting some thoughts. I was looking at a Colt Defender in 9mm on line this morning, anyone have experience with one of these?

Keltec PF9s are supposed to be excellent guns. I'd go with that.

Colt defender in 9mm. It gets great reviews. If I had the money at this current time I would buy one.

PF-9's are ammo picky. personal experience has been 50/50 with negative and good results from it.

I have shot a PF-9, it was ok. I have a LC9 that I actually like a little better. I'm leaning towards Colt or a Kimber Solo to replace it though. As reliable as my LC9 has been it is WAY too lawyer'd up for my long term taste.

I have (and always will) my eye on a Delta Elite. There are many other off-roster, but I NEED this colt.

I have a kel tec p-11, IMO it fits my hand better than the pf9 and has almost double the capacity than the pf9 with the same LxW dimensions.

I didnt know the EMP was off roster, my dad just bought one and he definatley didnt do a single shot exemption. If i had to pick id take a desert warrior, it looks like it wants to slaughter terrorists

You pose an interesting question.

Personally if you aren't in love with any one particular pistol I'd get something that is ON roster.

But failing that, you might look at the XDM's

That is what I am currently in love with, and I wish it was NOT off roster.

I'm going to do a single shot conversion one of these days soon.

The Bill Wilson carry pistol would be nice...as it is, my next Nighthawk (which I'm only a few weeks away from ordering :) ) is off list the way I'm ordering it lol

I just picked up this:

Very small and it has a built in laser. I will be putting this on my LTC.

I agree with other posters. If you don't already know what off-roster gun you want then stick with something that is. There are alot of choices out there. I don't quite understand why you want something specifically off-roster.

I guess it's the rebel in me. I hate being told I can't do, or have something, especially by a politician who has no clue.
From what I can make of it the EMP in .40 is off roster, the 9mm is on. I'm pretty sure it's going to be the Colt Defender though. Although I will research the Delta Elite. Thanks for the responses folks! I appreciate the feedback.

I would love to be able to have a week to test the beretta nano coming out soon. I don't think it'll be on roster as there is no mag disconnect. Looks pretty awesome though

True customs are off roster, even most semi customs are off roster, therefore my choice is an on roster with a non roster configuration

Kind of like my PRO CDP II bobbed tail? I carry this a lot. I just got it back about a week and a half ago. Love it BTW..

The 9mm EMP is on roster, the .40 is not.
And that Desert Warrior is definitely a looker

Sig P238 or Ruger LCP. That's why I bought them both. The Sig is a far nicer, and easier to shoot gun with its "cocked and locked" style single action trigger, but the LCP is pretty much the king as far as throwing in a pocket and forgetting about it, even though I think the trigger reset is garbage.

Since you're considering a .40s&w you're unlikely to go .380, but you did ask for what I would get :p

Walther ppq.

I've been reaserching this, ALOT. It looks really nice. Anyone ever shot one? Is the trigger as good as everyone says? If it's as good as everything I've read, I may replace my Glock 23 on my ccw.
