I have done a few small mods to my rifle. I added magpul small MOE rails. One for a flashlight and the other one is for the grip. What to you guys think.

Nice rifle. I've been considering a Socom 16 or a Scout Squad. I don't have an opinion one way or the other on the light/mount but I'm not a fan of the AFG.

Looks heavy.

Heavy hitting.

I like it!

At some point you may want to consider replacing the original optic mount with the M8 optic rail from UltiMAK.
SADLAK's tactical mag release is another great mod.

Looks good.

One question though,

How did you make it so that the rails are parallel with the bore or are they angled in like the forearm?

Off topic how do you like those Hornady press's. I am about to get another progressive and used to use dillons but a co worker is trying to sell me on the Hornady.

The best option on these guns is a "for sale ad" :). Nice guns but hate shooting next to them, muzzle concussion is gnarly.

Gnarly is putting it mildly, I am looking at a Scout real soon.

scout is the best one imho, 18" on a 308 is nice. I like the wood stocked ones from way back, I think there also was one called the bush rifle too?

Makes me miss my old socom 16.

Probably the next weapon I buy.

Not heavy at all. Thats why i went with a Socom 16, don't need all those rails. I don't know if you have ever held a Magpul forward grip. But its about 2 ounces. Its 8.6lbs total.

As for the Hornadys I love them.

I would not buy used unless your getting a killer deal. You miss 500 free bullets and the warranty will be no good..

Not quite sure if I understand. But they are just flush with the stock. It took some work on the rail to make the grip flush, as in cutting down and re drilling wholes etc...

And as for the weight again, yes a M1A is a tad front heavy but really not much more than a AR with a rail. But you get a lot more power. But that is why I put the magpul on it. Now its perfect. :D
