View Full Version : How to get a blm campfire permit?

Can anyone tell me how to obtain a campfire permit for blm land in Nevada? I live in the bay area and I do not want to drive all the way to one of the few blm offices that are way out of the way.
Also will I run into any restrictions on where I can have a fire?
I plan on bringing my own wood.

I would imagine checking their web site would be the best start or calling them. Not trying to be a smart *** but they would be your best source. http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/info/iac/campfirepermits.html

You can get them on-line now. Head over to this Campfire Permit (http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/sequoia/passespermits/campfire_permit/campfire-index.html) link on the NFS website. Take a simple multiple guess test, and you can print your own permit. They are good for both National Forest and BLM lands.
You can also go in to an office if that's convenient for you.

I believe it depends which district BLM land you want to have a fire on, as each one has separate fire restrictions and I think only one or two issues camp fire permits. They each publish their own fire restrictions, and Carson City (Reno area) hasn't lifted theirs yet to my knowledge. No camp fires allowed, only gas or propane stoves allowed.
This is the main NV BLM web site:

Just called BLM Reno office. Campfire restrictions were lifted last week in the area I was looking at and no permits are required for a campfire within Nevada BLM as long as the restrictions are lifted. Thanks for the help everyone.

In California, at least, you can get them from any forest service office. I've done it.
