FIRST (AND ONLY) COLT RATTLESNAKE™
This limited edition is also the first Colt Rattlesnake – and only the pistols in this edition are named that. This follows in the Colt “snake” tradition of the “PythonŽ”, “AnacondaŽ” and “King CobraŽ”. The slide is handsomely decorated on both sides with a Rattlesnake – ready to attack, its fangs extended, tongue twitching and rattle shaking! A special multi-finish technique is used to achieve this eerie life-like appearance. This includes deep etching and contrasting dull and shiny, two-tone 24-Karat Gold plating. Intertwined etched banners proclaim the pistol “Legacy Edition” and its status as “One of 1,000”.

OFFICIAL COLT COLLECTIBLE – LIMITED EDITION OF ONLY 1,000
Your Colt pistol is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, verifying: (1) this is an Official Colt Collectible, (2) the authenticity of the Rattlesnake grips, (3) the limited edition registry number (also engraved on the pistol) and (4) the strict edition limit of only 1,000. To complement the 24-Karat Gold plating across the Rattlesnake along the slide, 10 other components are also 24-Karat Gold plated: the hammer, thumb safety, slide release, magazine release, barrel bushing, recoil spring plug and four grip screws. And this is not just a beautiful and unusual collector showpiece. It is a firing Colt pistol – shooting “America’s favorite caliber” – .45 ACP. Be the first at your firing range and the first on your block to own this Colt pistol – and probably the only one in your area with a firearm featuring genuine Rattlesnake skin grips.

Unfortunately, it's not CA approved.........

some might think it's cool and some of you might get a laugh at it.......Colt 1911's have a reputation/tendency of "rattling"........

Single shot exemptions do exist. Unfortunately, that means disassembling this at risk of scratching frame, bushing, etc. But a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!

Colt made the pistol, The American Historical Foundation made it look funny.

Here is a list of the very rare U.S. Military Firearms it fobs off on the same folks who buy Richard Petty commemorative plates and Elvis decanters.

I like it. Kind of on the fence about the gold tho. I have been keeping/breeding various snakes for the past 20 years so maybe I'm a little biased.

for me, if they gold plated the bushing, slide stop, thumb safety, magainze release, and the hammer (looks like recoil spring plug too), they should have also gold plated the trigger.....
