I find that Federal Automatch works best for accuracy.

As with any 22lr go buy as many different small 50rd boxes of ammo you can find and see what your rifle likes

Are you shooting for groups? My 10/22 is a plinker and i feed it bulk pack stuff from walmart, miwall,etc... It takes it all and doesnt complain...

For reliability, my 10/22 works with anything but Remington rimfire ammo. It feeds the Remington ammo flawlessly, but it won't set them off reliably. That's probably because Remington rimfire ammo is crap.

For accuracy, Wolf Match Target (AKA SK Jagd Standard Plus) shoots better than me out of the 10/22.

But like Chaos47 implied, .22 rimfire rifles are the most finicky firearms. Some guys get lucky and pick up a Ruger 10/22 that shoots Federal bulk packs from Walmart better than expensive match ammo. If you do find a cheap ammo that works well in your 10/22, it's a good idea to go back to the store and buy as much ammo from that same lot number as you can afford.

My 10/22 seems to work well with whatever I put it in. The only problem I have had is with Remington GOLDEN BULLET. I have used other Remington's without a problem. My favorite loads are the Federal Champion 36 grain copper plated hollow points in the 525 round bulk pack.

This used to work well for me.

My target version, bought in 2002, seems to like the Winchester Super X, 40 grain, 1300 fps, round nose lead. Tried several types, but it always seemed to like the lead round nose. Never real happy with the hollow points.

My plain carbine loves just about anything you feed it, including the Aguila 60 grain sub-sonic stuff. Just no telling what a 10/22 will like.

Get several of the 50 packs, just as mentioned above, and try them all under the same conditions (at least as close as possible).

Good luck.

I don't think there is any .22LR that won't work. For cheap blasting, you can't go wrong with bulk packe Federal or CCI Blazer. For accuracy, Wolf MT works great for cheap (target ammo wise cheap.)

My 10/22 works with just about anything. The only one it seems to not like is the Remington golden bullet's in the bulk pack. Whenever I use that ammo on my 10/22 I get lot's of FTE and FTF. HOWEVER if we use the same ammo on my buddies 10/22 he has no issues.

Some are just a little picky.

I like Blazer and Federal. Remington isn't the best, pretty dirty in my 10/22

Anything that says .22LR on the box. The 10/22 isn't picky.... :D:D:D

I prefer a copper plating or jacket on the bullet to help lessen the lead fouling of the barrel. Other than that, the 10/22 will shoot anything. Mine always do. :43::43:

I like this phrase about the 10/22 "They are like a garbage can, they will eat anything"

I like Federals, i can get a good grouping at 100-120 yards. Blazer's are great as well. The furthest ive done with Federals were 150 yards, but i was all over the place on the target. I would stay away from remingtons, i dont know if its just me, but is seem to get a jam every 15-25 rounds with remingtons.

+1 as stated above - works the best in my 10/22. Volquartsen barrel.

Even with bad eyes, shaky shooter and a cheap scope - it has shot sub 1/2" at 50 yards (5 shots) with SK Jagd Standard Plus.

Lead bullets and Remington golden bullets jam occasionally in mine. CCI mini mags run flawlessly.

Blazer FTW!

Here are my choices from what I have tried:
4th: Remington
3rd: CCI
2nd: Winchester
1st: Federal

Top three have been reliable and accurate. But federal more accurate out of the bunch. Nothing wrong with remington but it have an occasional double feed with them
