Haven't seen too many threads (any subject) a week old and no responses. Guess maybe if you're "banned", everybody figures you won't be reading any posts anyway.

Welcome back from your "vacation" and what took you so long to buy a 10/22 anyways?

Looks awesome! I have a bull barrel I ordered from J&G (on its way) and a Hogue Overmold Stock in Ghillie Tan and a chepo bipod and actually pretty solid scope (NcStar).
Also using the Alangator Tri-Mag, its a great product!

i have no idea. i always figured it couldnt be fun because its a .22, but i think it might be my favorite gun that i own.

i ordered a new stock for it, so if anyone wants my hogue lmk, i dont plan to lose too much money on it since ive only taken it out once.

this will be on my door step on monday:

Thanks, i thought the Hogue was a little and a little too flexible, i really like the looks and the feel of it though. it should be great if youre using the bipod though.

How much are you looking for on the hogue?

I paid $70 plus shipping, I'd take $70 shipped.

I'm curious how the new stock feels. Ive only seen laminate flat for counter-tops.

feels great. extremely comfortable, nice wide cheek weld, the palm swells fit well, and it balanced the gun a bit better with the heavy barrel. plus its a true free floating barrel now.

dunno when my scope is gonna get in, its back ordered. i went with the BSA sweet 22 6-18x40, so after that ill be getting a good sling and a kidd bolt, then the rifle will be complete.

I'm still undecided between those 2 exact stocks, What made you decide to ditch the Hogue and go with the evolution stock?

I'd like something for prairie dog hunting so I'd like it to be super light while retaining functionality. Can you comment on these 2 stocks?

The hogue is very light and the gun was very unbalanced with the heavy barrel. I've actually decided to keep the hogue and do a light weight build using a tacsol aluminum fluted barrel. The hogue also has some flex in the fore end which I don't care for.

The evolution isn't heavy either, but it's not as light as the hogue, if you were to pair it with a light barrel you could carry and hunt with it all day, it's really not an issue unless you want a very light gun. When volquartsen does a light build, they use the hogue stock.

Personally I find the pistol gripish angle of the evolution to be more comfortable, the cheek rest is also amazingly comfortable.

If I had to keep only one, it would be the evolution, hands down. You really can't beat the ergonomics of it, it just feels right.

Look at the reviews online, they are both good stocks but the hogue has more negative feedback than the evolution.

I put an Evolution on a 10/22 with a Beyer lightweight 16" barrel, Mueller scope, lightened trigger and the rifle is incredibly light, compared to other rifles, and well balanced. It's become my favorite gun to shoot when I want to shoot on the cheap. It's a very natural feeling and comfortable stock.

I'm not looking for a feather weight 10/22 because my arms aren't pipe cleaners but the wood stock leaves a bit to be desired.

My plan was to use a green mountain fluted blued barrel (unsure if I should spring for the stainless model) and a hogue or boyd's stock.

I would say get the evolution, my earlier post was when I first woke up so sorry, it was a little garbled.

It's still very light, it's free floating, and it's stiff. Like I said before, also very comfortable to shoot with.

I think the hogue will be nice with a bipod and for bench resting use, but for competition or hunting I think I would go with the evolution.
