From what ive used...

CCI Stingers follow by MiniMags

I dont spend a lot on premium .22LR ammo... usually stick with the Federal bulk packs.

Blazer 525 Value Pack has been extremely accurate and reliable for me.

The best?
Never used it but Eley and Wolf both have highly regarded match ammo

for me the CCI's have been very accurate in both rifles & handguns (10/22, 15-22, Sig Mosquito & a 22 revolver)

CCI - mini mag for me, but I havent shot their Pisol Match Ammo yet

Mini Mag: http://www.cci-ammunition.com/products/detail.aspx?use=5&loadNo=0030

Pistol match: http://www.cci-ammunition.com/products/detail.aspx?use=5&loadNo=0051

Just stay away from Rem Golden Turds, lots of FTF & FTE in said weapons, great if your just plinking at spinners if you dont mind the failures. Especially for their price points

Are you thinking about the TacTurkeyShoot maybe??? (11/13/11 @ Burro) http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=476645

The Blazer 525 packs work veryyy well in my rifle. Love the accuracy and how clean the cartridges look as far as bulk ammo goes. I haven't tried "match" ammo yet but I wouldn't mind trying them out at all, I'll have to pick up some Eley next time.

I should have stocked up on those Blazer 525 packs when I had the chance to buy them for 13.99 per pack...

I only got 3 bricks.

Arn't they rated like 1625 FPS ?

Reason I 'am asking

I was at Bass Pro Shop today
I was looking at all the '22 ammo
And it got me thinking about targer rounds

Well, as others have said, Eley and Wolf Match Target, as well as CCI MiniMags are pretty good. Other than that, it really depends on your rifle. So buy a little of everything and see what you get the best results with in that particular rifle.

Actually it was from Turners... it was about a year ago (cant remember)... but I never used Blazers so I was hessitant to buy a bunch. I actually still have some, since I dont have a .22LR gun right now. Waiting on on a GSG 1911

1640 FPS if my memory serves me right... Its the most fun ive had shooting a .22LR with that ammo. Its pretty expencive, so I dont buy it often.

Its worth a try if you havent used it yet.

Wolf Match Target and SK-Jagd Standard Plus...

I think I could shoot a whole box into a 1/2" hole at 50 yards from my Savage MKII.

Okay, maybe not a whole box, but I've done at least 10 at a time.

if you are really interested in the "best ammo" you're going to need to buy atleast 50rds of ammo (of anything you can get your hands on) and see what your gun likes best.
If you are going to be doing 50meter prone or 3 position then the above mentioned still applies but you are only really looking at a handful of manufactures:
-Eley
-Federal
-Lapua
-RWS

good practice ammo can run you from $4 -$10 for 50rds, match ammo can cost you as much as $20 for 50rds.
Expensive ammo doesnt not guarantee results in every gun.

I use Wolf Match Target for practice and Ive tested Lapua Center X.. The Center X on a test bench yielded a 12mm ragged hole at 50M (~55yds)

But Id say one doesn't need to go much past a 5 dollar box of Wolf Match if they want good results.. It takes a match barrel + match quality action and trigger to see the differences that come from the higher priced stuff from Lapua and Eley.

+1 Eley Tenex

This was what my friend shot in his anschutz olympic rifle back in his college shooting team days.

I couldn't believe how much his parents was spending in his .22lr ammo.

But it was cool to see picture of his targets. 10 rounds in size of dime or less.

"most accurate" that depends on what your .22 likes. Every rimfire gun is different. Go buy a variety, 1 box of whatever you can find, and shoot it. I have built many custom .22 target rifles and every one likes different ammo. Elley Tends to really make a mess out of 10-22's. I have one 10-22 that loves Federal Auto-Match. PMC Target Rifle works great in my 77-22. My sons 10-22 with a Kidd match barrel loves Remington Golden Bullets.
Just get a variety and have fun finding what works!

These were shot at 50 yards from a bench out of the following 10/22. I have at least ten 22's and Wolf MT is by for the best ammo I have ever shot through any of them. Especially for the cost, it can't be beat.

Depends on the rifle. Different rifle barrels like different ammo.

In my M4 LE, Eley EPS works well followed by Wolf MT for accuracy.

You will have to try many brands to find one that is the most accurate in the particular rifle/pistol then the lot#. I have watched the hardcore 22 rifle shooters compete and these guy are fun to watch and how they score. The brand and type that puts them all in one hole in my rifle may not work as well in your rifle.

That is a nice Mossberg, it was a joy to see it at the Rod Run. I can't wait till the area between us opens back up and we can play with our old guns.

I like Minimags but for the price Blazer works great and thats what I shoot most.

Have to agree with everyone who said try a variety of ammo to see what your rifle shoots best.I have a lot of .22s.Different results with same ammo in different rifles. One thing seems to be consistent, lower velocity ammo seems to be more accurate in most of my guns(both rifles and handguns). Most match ammo is lower velocity. Most accurate stuff I've ever had was RWS (German) match (and pricey for .22).

All my rifles shoot their best with something different. Wolf or SK in one Tenex in another. I'm constantly doing ammo checks, I think it's a disease. For the hot shots it not only has to be one maker and model, but the same lot #.

Anyone know what the 10/22 likes more? Federal Bulk or the CCI Blazers?

I really need to throw a scope on mine and do some testing... Little hard for me to shoot 25-50 yards with just irons.

I have shot about 2k of Federal and 5k of Blazer in the last year in my 10/22 and I like Blazer best, cleaner in your gun, cleaner on your hands while loading, way less ftf and with the federal about every hundred or so you hear a little pop like it is only a half load or something.

Eley Tenex

Absolutely this. Tenex is awesome stuff as well as the wolf match if your gun likes it.

CCI Minimags and others are a joke to me with their inconsistencies.

Here are a few good ones:

http://media.midwayusa.com/productimages/large/337/337609.jpg
http://media.midwayusa.com/productimages/medium/140/140858.jpg

And for somewhere in between, plinking and target shooting these work really well. Very consistent velocities:

A lot of people don't like these for some reason, but they've shot out of my marlins REALLY well, and they smell fantastic when they're shot. Almost a sweet smell.

heres my 10/22 ammo comparison
http://tapatalk.com/mu/4b1979d3-aca5-9c96.jpg

Top Left- Wolf Match
Top Right- Rem sub sonic
Bottom left- Blazer
Bottom right- CCI standard velocity
Center- rem subsonic

All at 50 yards

i think for accurate plinking blazer is awesome, especially seeing as how its about $20 a brick, but wolf is better for competition or if you just want the most accurate. Wolf is better than blazer, but its also about $65 a brick, still very cheap to shoot, but depending on your needs even the 4 cents extra per round might not be worth it.

Another one for wolf. It shoots great in my savage tr.http://tapatalk.com/mu/a6cd890d-b7a9-4d4a.jpg
This was shot at 110 yards. CCI stingers shot horrible in my gun. 3 rounds didn't even hit a 5 inch target at 50 yards.

Izzy43

Lapua Center-X @$10/50 shoots bugholes out of my Kimber, shotgun patterns out of my Savage. That's about my cost limit for .22lr as .22WMR and .17HMR costs just a tad more.

Accuracy vs cost, no question-Wolf Match Target.

Recently found some Aguila Match Pistol that shoots excellent at its price point of $3/50 @ Cheaperthandirt.com.

The answer of course is the most accuracte .22lr ammo is the one that costs the most but not many of us want to spend that kind of $$$.

Part of your question depends if you are running semi-auto or bolt-action on your .22LR firearm.

Semi-auto actions tend to require "high-velocity" ammo to consistently cycle the action, which means the ammo will definitely be supersonic going out of the barrel, which in turn can lower overall accuracy. For semi-auto high-velocity stuff, I've had good luck with Federal AutoMatch (from WalMart), which is a 40gr LRN option. CCI MiniMags will almost always go bang, but are hit/miss with consistency/accuracy for many people/guns.

For bolt-action stuff, most standard velocity or subsonic ammo will perform well as long as it's good in YOUR gun (every gun is different).

It's already been mentioned about a dozen times over, but Wolf MT is a very well-priced and performs well for most. The Eley options come in a variety of grades and it can be fun to test them all out to see where your wallet starts to pain you enough that you compromise... :D

Finding the ammo you and your gun likes is half the fun with .22LR... good luck!
