What do you guys think of this for cleaning gun parts? Get some non-flamible cleaning solvent and drop all your parts in? Let it run for a while....Fill it up with handgun parts, AR-15 BCG's, etc...???

You should avoid using flammable solvents in electric devices.

I have one of these: http://images.grainger.com/B343_38/images/products/450x450/Parts-Washer-4KTV9_AS01.JPG

that I fill with this: http://www.shooters-choice.com/images/products/aquacleanaction.gif

Works like a charm. Can clean handguns and various parts very quickly and easily.

2.5 liters? I wonder how many .308 cases would fit in there...

A little vinegar in distilled water with a drop of dish soap works for me. I rinse real good with more distilled water after.

I have that model, and it works wonders on AR-15 bolt carriers.... Easy as can be. You can run solvents, but put it in another plastic container inside the tub.

So assuming I skip on the flammable solvents, what do you think about the ultrasonic? Seems like it would be better than a plastic tub with a submersible pump to circulate cleaning liquid (I think that is what the Westward device above is doing)...

Would you guys give it a try?

Just drop it in and let it run while it does most of the cleaning for me?

Yes, it does most of the work for you.

My buddy n I use his to clean most of our gun parts, the only thing that doesn't fit in it is the ak piston and bolt carrier assembly. He has the heated one so after we run a few cycles with simple green in it we let it cool down before we grab our parts out, and they come out spotless. They seriously look brand new after were done with it. We've tried simple green in it diluted 50-50 and we also tried this cleaner they had at 99 cents store 50-50 and both work very well in the cleaner. If you decide to purchase one, get a coupon for harbor freight in a magazine and then wait for it to go on sale and then go get it.

I have that particular unit for cleaning brass. Works well, just make sure you do not use corrosive cleaners.

Hey guys...update on the ultrasonic cleaner...

picked one up today and WOW. Works great....

I cleaned my guns twice as fast today using this...

I used hot water and Simple Green. A little compressed air afterwards and some Rem Oil and it was as good as new...
