I need some cash and i am thinking of selling one of two handguns I have. Please let me know which one you would sell. I like them both equally.
1. Near perfect condition series 80 MK4 colt 1911 blued all stock parts.
2. H&K USP45 compact.

I go to vegas and az quite a lot and carry when i am there. Both are comfortable for me to carry so that is not an issue for me.
Both pistols have been reliable

Thanks for your imput.

I'd sellt he HK, but that's because I'm giving a bias opinion. I hate HKs, love 1911s! But honestly, you should keep whichever suites you better. If you shoot the HK better, keep it. It also depends on how much money you need. If you need more, sell whichever will fetch you a higher amount. Either way, it's never easy to part with a handgun.

1911 is nice, sell the HK but if you will get more for the 1911 then it is up to you.

i think sell the hk if it gives you enough cash. you can always buy another one down the road. not the same for the colt.

1911's seem to fetch more money, but I would keep the 1911. I would sell the H&K instead.

Sell whatever one you've put less extra money into on sights, mags, etc. You will likely want to buy that gun again and you'll end up paying even more to buy all the accessories again.

I would sell the USP because if you really want an HK down the line you can always get an HK45C. I'm in the same boat kind of I'm trying to get rid of all my guns that don't serve me some sort of purpose.

$$$$ RECOMMENDATIONS

Get a paper route for your wife/girlfriend, give up cigarettes, avoid Starbucks, ride a bike to work, take a bag lunch to work, stop eating out, sell your stereo stuff, stop renting movies AND shorten your normal Christmas list and limit gifts to $25.oo gifts.

NOW, Bubba, you can keep BOTH of your handguns and feel good about it too!

I voted HK. But IMHO HK hasn't made a pistol worthy of the name HK since the P7.

Since money seems to be what you are after, the Colt is certainly more valuable then the HK.
The collectable value of firearms as with many things, is greatly less then what it has enjoyed.
So, the Colt is worth even less then it would have been given a stronger economy.
Now, if I had no idea how long it would be before I could replace either or, along with being well armed with a very reliable handgun, the choice is easy. Keep the HK.
Since typically the value in the Colt is in a condition being little fired as possibe, you could be giving up the handgun which allows for shooting enjoyment, to have a safe queen.
The liklihood of everything going to hell, and the need to depend on a handgun to defend yourself is little, still.......... Which one would you want to have at that time?

Further down the road, we all predict we will be better off financially. There will always be a chance to own a collectable firearm.

I would rather have a handgun I can use as much or as little as I like. For me, that would be the HK.
Oh, I own several Colt brand handguns, and no HKs right now.

I love the 1911 platform, but I wouldn't sell it. This is all dependent on the situation you said you need cash, how much cash you need? Not asking just saying, if you need a good chunk then sell the 1911, if just cash in the pocket then HK, good luck!

I'd sell the HK.

Post them both with the note that you will sell one or the other but not both. Sell whichever sells first and keep the other one.

That's actually the best idea in this thread so far.

Aside from keeping the 1911. :shifty:

Sell the HK, look for ways to reduce spending and keep the Colt.

It's the caution triangle in the upper right of the post.

Back to the thread, I voted to sell the H&K. I love them, but they are a dime a dozen. However, I do feel you should keep the H&K and continue to use it as your personal carry. Keep in mind if you ever end up using it you need to be comfortable with giving it up for a while. Not sure I'd want the Colt entered in as evidence for who knows how long.

H&K USP 45 Compact = Still in production, the world is flooded with them.

Colt 1911 Mk IV = Out of production (1970-1983), less of them out there than HK 45's.

I would keep the Colt, HKs are easy to find and replace later.

i'd keep the one that would create the most heartache... from regret of selling and difficulty in replacing; those two criteria usually point to the same gun.

My bad, I voted before I read the thread. I thought you were going to ask which one to get so I voted Colt. But if you need to sell, then KEEP the Colt. My two worthless cents....

If you sell the gun, the cash will be gone in a heartbeat. If you raise the money another way you will have the gun forever. I've only sold three guns in my life & I'm sorry for two of them.

luckygunner

I would keep the Colt.

Finding a used H&K USP45 for a reasonable price isn't nearly as hard as finding a good deal on a Colt. If you need money immediately the Colt should be easier to turn over quickly.

Sorry you have to sell one of your firearms.
