Does just swapping grips count? 'Cuz I have a photo of that if so haha. Well... custom trigger work and springs are in there also, but you can't see it in a photo!

Here's my glocks that I experiment on when I get bored. Let me be the first to say (because I know everyone else will chime in as well), I am aware that my at home stipple jobs are horrendously ugly. However, I did not do it for the looks, I wanted a different texture and no more finger grooves. I couldn't bring myself to spend almost $200 stippling a $400 handgun. So, I sat down with the dremel and soldering iron and went to work. Just so you know the grips feel great and these two are my main course/match guns and I looooove them.

The world's only gas-operated near-clone of an 1873-pattern single action revolver:

nZAGpJr5RsU

Note the leather-wrapped sight body - the sight system is an unreleased prototype that I'm using under an NDA, can't show it off yet :).

This critter is my daily-carry piece - I'm now in Tucson AZ.

Here's the custom leather it lives in:

57jf8yfPwoI

The moment I can get access to a milling machine, I'm going to add magazine feeding based on brass spring-loaded tubes that can be clipped into a mag well hole just left of the hammer. So the moment the cylinder runs dry it'll start feeding out of the mag, 7rd in a 1ft tube. Once the mag is dry, swap mags. Firepower will be at least on par with a 1911, but working with full-power 357 loads.

And then I'm enter it in an ICORE match racing DA sixguns and at least keep up across 24rds or more, which would be a first for an SA wheelgun :D.

Mine are works in progress. Too many other priorities. Plus they both shoot great!

Current state of my project guns...

Glock 17 9mm Gen 2 (Washington State Trooper Trade-In):
Still need to get the slide refinished and new tritium inserts and then I am done. Added extended controls, grip tape, and Wilson Combat buffer.
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh183/tacticalcity/My%20Glocks/GLOCK17.jpg

Kimber Custom II 1911:
Still need to get the entire gun refinished. Add lots of stuff I didn't like and since removed it. Additions I do like are the Wilson Combat buffer, VZ ETC Frag Grips, VZ Front Strap Grip Tape, Wilson Combat Grip Screws, Wilson Combat Recoil Spring, Fusion Main Spring Housing and Magwell, and Ameriglo Novak Style Night Sights.
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh183/tacticalcity/My%201911s/1911_9-23-11.jpg

The ball bearings reinforce the strength of the crane-to-barrel fit - in other words, the cylinder stays fixed in there even under heavy recoil.

Rugers from the SP101/GP100 era forward have a positive latch at the crane holding the cylinder in, on top of the latch at the rear of the cylinder. The cylinder won't go anywhere under recoil. Both latches unlock via the single cylinder release button behind the cylinder via an interlock switch running through the cylinder's axle.

S&W also does two latches interlocked the same way but the forward one is at the outer end of the ejector rod, and you can get some rod flex that can hurt the solidity of the barrel-to-cylinder fit. Esp. in a 44Mag. So the bearings added in there are spring-loaded and fit into divots in the frame under the barrel.

(Taurus also does two latches on the "Raging" series but they were too dumb to figure out an interlock - so there's two release switches, one behind the cylinder like an S&W and one on the crane like a Dan Wesson. Takes two hands to get the cylinder open. Sigh.)

I'm just going from a conversation I had with Brandon a couple of years ago, when I was inquiring about building a couple of guns. The major turn off for me was the cost factor. I'm not going to get into a pissing contest on a picture thread or anything, so I'll just share one of my builds...

http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc1/bugeyedmonster1/GUNS/mail.jpg

Built by Matt McLearn from M2i Customs. This is as good if not better than what Brandon would have built me, lighter, and more accurate than I could ever ask for. Best of all, cost me $1400 less. =) I'd rather have the M2i logo over the SV one anyday.

Rippspeed, it's not a matter of having money, it's a matter of saving. It takes a long time for me to save up for what I want, but once I know what I want, I don't deviate from that goal. Even if you dont know what you want, it's always good to have some money stashed away just in case an opportunity presents itself.

I'm sure you make more money than me, or at least have a pretty promising future ahead of you, guns aren't everything. I've got pistols, rifles, shotguns, and frames ready to be built, but the money isn't always there in the budget. Once I get the TRPs back, along with a few other goodies that are out, I'll post up more pictures.

Once I get the TRPs back, along with a few other goodies that are out, I'll post up more pictures.

problem is money is always going to something for the wife or the kids or the business ... I'm luck enough to shoot USPSA every other saturday. I do have a goal just not firearms...

We always have wants but the needs always come first ...

That's good, at least you ahve yoru priorities straight. I just dont spend money on anything, my girlfriend is contantly saying "instead of buying gun stuff, maybe you should buy some new clothes!" People that know me know that'll never happen. Once we have kids, I already know it's gonna be game over... well, maybe. =)

Sig P220 Sport. I didn't do anything custom to this one, but it was nicely done at the factory. I still can't even remember why I sold it, but I do miss seeing it in the safe now that it's gone.

It's actually a factory piece. It's just a machined piece of aluminium and covers the longer barrel. To be honest, I dont think it really did anything, but I bought it when I was 21, so go figure. hahaaha

I'm just going from a conversation I had with Brandon a couple of years ago, when I was inquiring about building a couple of guns. The major turn off for me was the cost factor. I'm not going to get into a pissing contest on a picture thread or anything, so I'll just share one of my builds...

Built by Matt McLearn from M2i Customs. This is as good if not better than what Brandon would have built me, lighter, and more accurate than I could ever ask for. Best of all, cost me $1400 less. =) I'd rather have the M2i logo over the SV one anyday.

is that the same gun Nils J. is rocking?

HKDAD, yes, actually, its the same build, Matt wont tell me which one was built first, but they have the same ugly coating. I remember him asking me "Jerry, you mentioned you are color blind before. There's this new coating out on the market......" I must say, it's tough as nails, takes more than a beating.

Yes, I love TRPs. They are decent out of the box, but Springfield has really lost their edge recently with certain points. This is why all but one of mine have either been sent out or are being worked on... they all have a specific purpose, and those have backups. I've decided recently to just build frames from the bottom up, it's more cost effective in the long run, and you get exactly what you want that way.
